To get technical, 848,480 is not widescreen. 848/16=53 which checks out but 480/9=53.3 which is off. The true 16/9 with a wide resolution of 848 is 477. In the past having both the width and height of a video resolution divisible by 16 was good for compatability with codecs and players. Today having an odd number of pixels on either side can complicate things but thats about it. If your using old codecs then its better to stick with mod16 resolutions. It's not so much important anymore, but 848by480 is still a widely accepted standard around here. Afterall, your not going to notice a 0.6% expansion in height on the video.

Also, I'm going to finish my track this upcoming weekend. I thought I was busy now but next month and most of the end of this month will be busy as hell. So I'll wrap it up and maybe get one more beta test done after i have the track completed just for tweaking. Final some time next week.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

FadingSundown: As for your beta I think it's actually pretty good but there are just few things I'd like to point out:
I'd leave out the horrizontal blurs in the beggining as well as that masking combined with text/flying things in the background... it isn't bad looking, it's just that it would really stand out and differ from the other tracks. (if this technique is used it should be for the whole video, not only one track of 11 .) :) And of course reduce the flashes as Mystyk suggested you. Other than that it's really good and it nicely follows the lyrics.

I agree with you ibabrak. It would stand out yes, when I made it i hadnt seen the whole MEP beta yet. But, the effects and such are in the middle of my part. Do you think I could leave it this way and make the beginning of my part in a style that fits the MEP (no blurs and more rawish effects)? That way my part wont stand out so much but it will still have one moment in the middle with effects.

If others will let you off with it then be my guest but as for me I wouldn't prefer it... I understand that the masks took a lot of time but it would really stand out and alternate the solidity MEP should have.

Hitori:
Considering that it's an alpha then it's really amazing... the scene selecting works really good for me...
As for the editting suggestings: I'd suggest you to make the first scene longer so it would last until the big beat in the word "Wanna"... That way you'll have easier editting > You won't have to look for a scene that you'd place between "The fireworks" and "Tomoki's eyes" and Mystyk will have easier work with trasitions > she'll have longer scene to transit into)

When she says "Take ME" I'd already use the scene where she appears from the black on the sky (0:11). and when she says the word "Sky" I would already move on to the scene where Ikaros' falling down

It's only a suggestion so you don't have to do it of course ;)

Aw man... I wanted my anime to be a secret! Hopefully no one picks up on it. :uhoh:

I'll take your suggestion into consideration! :awesome:

Sorry for being so quiet. Been busy like hell due to 2 amvs, but I´ll start posting some of my impressions once I see the recent tracks of the MEP.
At my case Mystik I´m stuck in a segment of my part. Thanks to the beta of the MEP I realized of some extra details for my part so I´ll have to hit the beats not with a fast change of scenes but with a surprise :D My part is going to be the sexiest of the MEP

I´ll return back once I see all the betas :)

EDIT: You´re lucky Hitori, I´m a fan of the serie. Then my impressions you have:

In general I can get what you want to do with my lady, but it´s me of I feel it kinda slow at certain points, at 0:22 you got a glitch in the BG scene, look at the left upper girl.
For the next scene at 0:24 you can play with the scenes of my angel from episode 1, episode 9,and if I don´t have bad memory episode 11. So that you can get an idea of what I mean look at the episode 10, in the moment my angel is singing Fallen Down and it shows a moment where there are flashbacks

Since you´re lip synching at 0:19 I think it´s a moment you should fix cause that was the only moment I felt it was weak though this is up to you
Scenes you should definitely keep are the ones where the band is playing the instruments :shark:

Man I was going to say the same ibabrak about FadingSundown´s beta :( for hitting the beats you can try playing with scene selection and varying a little the flashs

Do you really dislike the effects so badly? My part has alot of beats and is quite happy, while most of the songs in the MEP tend to go to the more emotional side. I personally dont think my part will stand out as much as you think. The beginning and ending will be without masking/blur effects etc so it is going to flow with the other parts. Im going to change the last scene of my part and remove the effects there, and I think I will have another beta (hopefully the full 30 seconds) ready next weekend.
