1.Subtitles. Unless they're edited in by the editor. Whenever I see a subtitle, I read it, and for the most part, it kills the enjoyment of the video.
2. Watermarks. Same as above.

4. Macroblocking. Same as above.

[Additional Grievances]
1. Intros that has no context of the AMV other than creator/studio. At least other intros has the song and/or source, the title of the AMV, or even an audio clip of some sort that would set the mood for the rest of the video.

[Visual Effects]
1. Videos where there are so many effects that you can't make out the actual footage, or videos that turn into "Look what effects I can do" rather than focusing on the anime.
2. Lyrics on the screen. Subtitles for the song or to emphasize certain lyrics are fine, but when the whole video the lyrics of the song in front of everything, then we have a problem. Youtube is really bad with this.
3. Blended frames, especially if it's fix-able.
4. Bad masking
5. Static pictures as an overlay - can soooometimes be done well, but seeing some pretty flower symbols over the whole vid that don't move is distracting.
[Style / Genre]
1. Comedy videos that rely on fanservice/innuendo for their humor.
2. Videos with no/little sense of flow and sync.
3. Scenes sped up so much you can't clearly see them.
4. "It's funny because they are/aren't gay" - at least when that's all there is too the concept.
5. Shaking screens that look corny - it can be done well!
[Anime / Visual Source]
1. Multi-anime videos where the anime amounts are uneven - for example, a video that uses two scenes of Yugioh in the whole thing, but uses many scenes of Digimon [Unless it's intentional, like for a comedy video or reference].
2. Multi-anime vid where only the OP or a small amount of eps are used for a certain series, while others have much more variety.
3. Fansubs and logos [Including editor logos]
4. Audio that is used from the Japanese version of the show without a translation - the effect is wasted if I don't know what's being said
5. Hellsing
[Additional Grievances]
1. Covering lipflaps with a still frame while the rest of the scene is shaking.
2. When the sides of different scenes keep changing so black bars keep appearing and disappearing and your eye can't help but be drawn to them and oooh my goodness...
3. Wasted concepts - the anime and song are a great fit, but the execution is poor.
4. Videos that jump around the anime's timeline too much for no reason.
5. Videos that don't even bother to lipsync and just throw the talking character over the lyric and decide "Look, he's singing!"[/b]
Im sure half of those are in the wrong category...[/quote]

[Visual Effects]
1. Random twitch/wiggle in any clip property (meaning not just camera shakes, but also random luma flashes and so on)
2. Other video copilot presets made for no reason whatsoever
3. BAD text usage (if proper, I enjoy it a lot)
4. Noise abuse
5. Bad or meaningless masks/cookie cutters
[Style / Genre]
1. Trailer
2. Random Opening spam
3. Comedy done wrong (if it's not funny it's just absolutely terrible)
4. Fade abuse editing (using fades is not bad in and off itself, but the abuse, well... a cut is much better)
5. Lip sync videos
[Anime / Visual Source]
1. Naruto/Bleach/One Piece/Fairy Tail/Dragon Ball/Shinkai stuff/Other abused shows (but only if used in the same-old videos, they are fine if used in some original way)
2. Interlacing.
3. Non-custom subtitles (ie, not made by the user).
4. Logos. Whether TV logos or user logos. Unless they serve a specific purpose in the video (ie: you made a custom tv showing something so you added a logo for the tv or something like that)
5. Wrong AR. (after this would come all the other various visual artefacts)
[Additional Grievances]
1. Using whatever source without crediting. When using the anime you are using, you state the name of the anime and that's fine, same for the song. Should do the same for the rest of things too. You used some other thing that isn't an anime? Add it to the catalog as non-anime. You used some raster or preset or even a bit off another AMV? Admit it in the comments. This is remix culture, there's nothing wrong in using other stuff in your works, but at least give credit where it is due.
2. Not admitting obvious mistakes being pointed out (smaller stuff could be hard to notice so perhaps could be forgiven if the editor isn't able to see it being there despite it being pointed out)
3. It really annoys me when the audio cut is not done properly. Nothing wrong with cutting the song down if it's too long for the video you want to do or whatever, but at least do it right! It's not even hard...
4. "YouTube" betas. I don't dislike betas, I mean, they serve a purpose. But that's only for actual betas. On YouTube, kids do 5 sec clips at random, list them as betas and be done with the video. That's not really something you can call an AMV. And yet they think editing AMVs is about that. Seriously, that's the cancer killing AMVs. An AMV has a start and an end, it's not some random secs slapped together without any contest and published. That's just an unfinished AMV... if you don't have the intention to finish it when you start it, don't start it at all. Wait for a better idea or something, but just doing a few secs like that is lame.
5. People trying to spam their videos here without adding them to the catalog first. Read the rules, guys! >_<

1. If I notice that the effect you used is an effect. More on this, essentially, the effect used should be to enhance the video and not the point of the video. If used properly as an enhancement then I shouldn't notice the effect as it would be blended with the source in some way.

[Style / Genre]
1. Effects Whores
2. Random clips + music = video
3. Lack of Story, Theme, Mood, Concept, ect.
4. Romance
5. Drama done poorly
[Anime / Visual Source]
1. Interpolated frames. Essentially smoothing out everything in order to obtain a 'true' 60/120/+ source off of 24p material. It just doesn't look right. It could partially be due to me being somewhat partial to the cadence of film, but often the technology used makes for some really odd looking in-between frames such as jelly foot.

[Additional Grievances]
*My additional problems are generally audio related as if I can't get into the song I rarely have the will to really watch/enjoy the video*

[Visual Effects]
1. Above all, effects for the sake of effects.
2. After that, laziness (by that, I mean excessively using stock effects).
3. Weird color effects and hue cycling.
4. Badly placed masks, especially single frame masks as an emblem of the creator's lack of effort.
5. Random superimposed text in the middle of an AMV.
[Style / Genre]
1. Obvious lack of mood/beat sync.
2. Cross ... fading ... EVERYTHING.
3. Speaking from a personal preference, hentai/fanservice videos.
4. AMVs that more or less ignore the style/presence of the audio source.
5. Bad anything is bad, but especially bad drama.
[Anime / Visual Source]
1. Subtitles.
2. Terrible visual quality (macroblocking, interlacing, I mean, hell, people even use GIFs in AMVs. GIFs!).
3. Watermarks.
4. WMM intros.
5. Overused sources automatically turn me off from the video (this includes Naruto, DBZ, Bleach). You're going to work hard to get my attention back.
[Additional Grievances]
1. Lip flap.
2. Directly ripping off parts of other peoples' AMVs.
3. Rampant lack of spatial interpolation. I implore every AMV maker to at least learn how to use this brilliant feature.
4. Orphan frames.
5. Excessive flashing.

[Visual Effects]
1. Effects for the sake of effects. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy effects-heavy videos providing that the effects are there to convey an artistic vision, are generally well thought out or something among those lines. What I hate are the AMVs with effects slapped in at random or in such numbers that you can't even see the original source.
2. Excessive colour corrections and bad colour manipulation in general.
3. White flashes with every beat.
4. Too much camera shake
5. Poorly cut out masks
[Style / Genre]
1. Drama done badly. Emo song + shots of people crying do not make a good AMV.
2. Romance. I tend to get bored by it really easily.
3. Comedy videos relying on literal lyric synch and/or lipsynch without any real creative input from the editor.
4. Seizure inducing stuff with cuts so fast you have no idea what's going on
5. Multi anime AMVs, specifically those where one anime is used for an extended period, then it's suddenly switched to another one for no apparent reason as if the author ran out of footage.
[Anime / Visual Source]
1. Subtitles. I turn the AMV off as soon as I see them.
2. Interlacing, blended frames, macroblocking etc (generally bad video quality)
3. Bad AR
4. Watermarks
5. OPs/EDs that are not creditless
[Additional Grievances]
1. Lipsynch done badly and lipflap
2. Abrupt endings
3. Lazy editing, ie slapping a fight scene on the timeline, not editing it at all and having the nerve to call it an AMV
4. Very static AMVs/scenes that drag on forever
5. Letterboxing when sources with different ARs are used
Date Completed: 04.09.2011

[Visual Effects]
1.Bad looking effects? unless it's some kind of horror vid.
2.Flash with no opacity modification / not fitting or annoying.
[Style / Genre]
1."Flow synch" i don't get it, usually it just feels too slow/unfitting to song for me.
2.Most romance vids without mood or direction to romantic feeling.
4.Trailers are less re-viewable for me
[Anime / Visual Source]
1.Subtitle unless they are used for parody or something.
2.Interlacing
3.Watermarks
4.overused Op/EDs as source
[Additional Grievances]
1.lack of sync construction or just bad pacing/tempo of scenes
2.lack of re-view ability (various reasons come to this i guess)
3.lack of creativity/ideas in general

1. Seizure-inducing strobes/dips to color
2. Purposelessly fast edits
3. Heavy effects that obscure the video.
4. Only lips sync-ing over still images.
5. Videos that look like samples for all the transitions/effects the editing program came with.
[Style / Genre]
1. Drama -context = Bullshit
2. Action- other elements= Generic
3. Romance that is merely a random compliation of tropes (holding hands, tears, hugs, beaches)
4. Convention videos that rely on the audience already knowing the anime for context.
5. All of the categorical elements coming from the song rather than the editing.
[Anime / Visual Source]
1. Mixed up casting; When one character is linked to a voice as 1st person, and then the voice seems to be 1st person for someone else, especially if lip synced.
2. Various sources/various couples in a romance vid if the song is personal or definately about 1 couple.
3. Irrelevent artifacts; subtitles from the anime source, watermarks, timestamps.
4. Interlacing.
5. Lack of color correction especially with very dark scenes.
[Additional Grievances]
1. Writing fake subtitles for Japanese audio, especially when super basic words are false-subbed.
2. Videos that are longer than they should be because the editor feared cutting the audio. (So many AMVs that would be strong at 3 minutes get weak by 5.)
3. Long intros/production tags.
4. Videos that force jarring occipital movement over and over again.
5. Foriegn language songs not subbed when the lyrics seem relevent, especially when there's a target audience (like a convention) that won't understand the words.
