On to my AMV Flaws! Because we all love to talk about ourselves...
I SUCK AT EDITING. Who spends 30 hours fussing with 1.3 seconds of footage? A BAD EDITOR. Who spends 100 hours on a excruciatingly simplistic 2-minute AMV with NO special effects and STILL messes up the AR?! A REALLY BAD EDITOR! Who spends 42 hours on a plain old 30-second AMV Hell clip that doesn't come out right? A HORRIFICALLY BAD EDITOR!! Who has almost more success complaining about how bad they are at editing than actually creating AMVs? That would be me.
Seriously, though, I can't think I any flaws I haven't already bemoaned 50 times over in my journal. That would be a big flaw in itself, but it's not like it's a big secret or something.

Concept is vital, what constitutes a good concept is up for debate. Is an "effects showcase" a concept? If so, does it trump the concepts of "revenge" or "self-sacrifice?" How about this: two people are building a set of stairs. One person actually knows and cares about where the stairs will lead to and from and plans to install them accordingly, the other person just wants to build a generic set of solid stairs to prove that they can. Yeah, both sets of stairs start out low and end up high, but only one of them actually GOES somewhere and serves a purpose beyond its mere constructed existence.Kariudo wrote:Think of it like this...
Two people are building a chair. They both have the same amount of wood, same tools, etc..., and they both are reasonably skilled handymen. One person has instructions, and the other doesn't. More times than not, the chair from the guy with instructions is going to look better than the chair from the guy without instructions...and the guy with the instructions is probably going to get the chair done faster as well (or have more time to add embellishments).
