Re: AMV flaws you want to admit
I love beat, internal, and "motion" sync, but I choose to edit mostly slower paced songs in order to avoid so much of it. If I were to edit a action video with my style of beat and internal sync, it would take forever.
I have very little experience with effects. I use sony vegas cookie cutter, crossfades, and that's about it.
Every time I open up a Adobe premiere or After Effects, I have to search the internet for a guide. Even simple tasks like spiting clips and rendering with audio are things that I've needed guides for.
Everytime I finish a scene in a AMV, I feel the need to walk around my house a few times and congratulate myself.

Re: AMV flaws you want to admit
- I am pretty nitpicky and tend to spend hours polishing stuff.
- I spend weeks just lazing around thinking about the video - then I sit to the editor and do it within hours/days.
- I hate action stuff and effects, since I can't edit those for life. I just can't seem to oversync my typical tempo.
- I owe pretty much everything I know about technical stuff to mirko
- I never used Photoshop to mask. I can do awesome masks in PS, but I use Vegas masking tool, because I think it's pretty much the same. And I never had any issues with the results (when I fixed a few technical details, that is).

( I like this thread
)
- A lot of the time, I don't even watch the anime. I just use it for the pretty pictures.

I do that too.kireblue wrote:Everytime I finish a scene in a AMV, I feel the need to walk around my house a few times and congratulate myself.

I don't think that's a flaw, but funny things you do when making amvs can be shared too.

Re: AMV flaws you want to admit
- I almost never use Premiere's 'Preview' function, I always export the video, compress with Xvid and check everything that way.
- I still do Video-CD compatible MPEG-1 distribution encodes.
- From what I've heard from instructors when I took media classes, using Premiere is bad enough, but using the rubberbands is apparently something amazing, since I've been met with surprised looks when I tell people that I use rubberbands extensively. This isn't something I think is a flaw at all, and it's not simply a case of wanting to admit it, I'm damn proud of this fact.

Re: AMV flaws you want to admit
- I honest to god think 99.9% of my work is complete shit. When I was younger I would edit and not care if my video had subs or bad quality. Now, even "my best work" drives me insane because I know I'm capable of more. It's always fun to hear that someone enjoys the video but if they comment about "all the work I put in" it really feels like a kick in the heart. I still don't have a video I'm proud of, only a couple that I can finally say "I'm happy/ok with."
- I do not know how to clean footage. Seriously. Absolutely horrible. I usually look around the forum, see what's working for other people and mix an match stuff till I get something that looks alright D: Or if Kisanzi isn't busy, I'll ask him to look it over and make me a script.
- I seem to have a "preview vision," if you will. When it's on my timeline and I'm editing it right then and there, looks awesome in the preview screen!
Then I render it out and I'm like "THIS IS NOT THE VIDEO I WAS JUST EDITING >:O THIS IS TERRIBLE ;_;"
- I really want to learn Adobe programs and I've tried multiple times...but every time I fail by forgetting how basic things work. I'm still trying just for the sake of knowing and so I can experiment in AE, but it hasn't gone well... Sadly, I'm a Vegas girl through and through :< I even do all of my image/shop work in Vegas with it's little pentool :<

I have this same issue. Despite reading the guides multiple times, I just really don't "see" the stuff that isn't super obvious. Literally, the only thing I really know how to do is deinterlace and sharpen. So I usually hope the beta testers can see it and let me know. ;___;Radical_Yue wrote: - I do not know how to clean footage. Seriously. Absolutely horrible. I don't really use avs scripts or whatever to clean up footage. I try to maintain the original quality and I've only color corrected for masking.

I've decided to just let people bitch.

Also, I still edit on a G5 mac ... use AE 7.0
