Ileia wrote:6. I never just let someone say my name wrong. If you speak to me, and you say it wrong, I'll correct you. I don't care who you are. I sometimes won't even answer someone's question until I've corrected their pronunciation.
Example:
Boss: Hey, Ee-lay-uh, did you do bla-bla-bla?
Me: Eye-lee-uh?
Boss: Eye-lee-uh.
Me: Yes, I did that yesterday.

It seems rude, but I find it more rude when someone doesn't respect another person enough to try to even say their name right. Especially when someone is trying to say it right and just give up and end it with "whatever". Not being able to spare the seconds it takes to get it right sets off something in my head that immediately says "I hate you, too." If you've done this, I probably hate you. And with people that I am forced to deal with who persistantly say it wrong, I will either a) say their name wrong ("Hey there Eeeedward.") or b) stop answering altogether. Now, there are always cases where someone is just scatterbrained and I forgive them and make a joke of it, but I still correct them on it. I can tell the difference between them and someone who just doesn't give a fuck. That being said, I still wouldn't trade my name for the world.
I hope I've said it right each time we've met. :uhoh:

-------

Here's a few more things I've decided to share:

- I've been single and haven't been in a relationship since 2002. But back from 8th grade until then, I was always chasing girls and have been rejected numerous times (probably because of my giant glasses and shaggy hair). I'll honestly say that I've only had 2 girlfriends total and much, much, more "dating, but never worked out" relationships. In 2002, I had feelings for someone who was already taken, and I know she really wanted me too, but didn't want to be the homewrecker (last I heard, she moved out of state and finally got married, whew!). I was sick of playing the game and got more focused on amvs during that time to help me get by. I still tend to get nervous around women in general and I'm extremely nervous when they get flirtatious.

Now that I'm a lot older and wiser, I might get back into the saddle. <3

- I'm a huge pack rat and LOVE collecting things like video games, books, and figures. Sadly, when I was going through financial problems in 2010, I had to sell a large chunk of my collection. I plan on collecting it all back when I get rich.

- I LOVE airports. Although I hate driving to and from them.

- I spent 9 years (Fall 1999 - Spring 2008, a little under 9 actually) trying to graduate from college. I got a scholarship to a Tech School and got kicked out in 2001 for not attending. Then I spent from 2001-2005 in a community college and got my Associates in Science degree. In 2006, I transferred to a university majoring in Computer Science. About 3 weeks in, I really hated programming and realized I was already past the drop deadline. You had to have nothing short of a court hearing to get out, so I duked it out and still failed all my programming classes, but at least I tried. If I had just stopped coming to class, I would have really deserved to fail.

At that point, I decided to finally be an editor for a living and wanted to switch my major to film, media, or something related, but my university didn't have those (it was more of an engineering focused school). I said fuck it and majored in Liberal Arts with an art focus just to get a degree. However, I LOVED all my liberal arts classes since I took a variety like theater, art, speech, etc. I graduated with straight A's, but short of the Dean's List (I had a 3.34 GPA and the Dean's List was 3.5). I even won a teacher's award for doing a power point presentation on pop culture, which my old teacher still uses as her "A+ example" to this day.

Most of my family said I should have gotten a more worthwhile degree, but after the great times I had in my Liberal Arts classes, I don't regret it one bit. It's always a bittersweet feeling to look at the framed degree on my wall after working so long and hard to get it.

- To compliment the above, I've never been that academically smart. I was always a C student, but I excelled in my art classes and anything creative. I went to an Asian majority high school where all of my friends were straight A students with me being the dunce in the group. |:>

- In my 2 years working on and off as a professional editor from 2008-2010, I've only edited one feature film and tons of boring piano recitals, meetings, gatherings, parties, etc. I've also had some... interesting experiences with a few productions which I'll document privately in my LJ in the future. I also applied to be an extra in tons of films (I tried for Transformers 2, but didn't get in..), a production assistant (got called back a few times, but never had anything finalized), and got my headshot taken as well (which I also didn't get called back for :( ). As incredibly frustrating as all of this was, I'm extremely grateful since it taught me that I need to make my own shit and not do anyone else's.

- I don't have a facebook, myspace, etc since I don't like social networking sites. I really don't want to re-connect with people I hated from grade school to high school. I know I can easily ignore them, but....

- My sister made a bet with me saying if I ever became a famous filmmaker, I have to set up a facebook account. I really hope my sister wins this bet so I can show all the people from my past how awesome I am now in comparison to being the outcast as a kid/teen. :awesome:

- There was once a time I HATED anime because of the fans. Especially the ones that insulted you for not watching "x show". I got into a serious fight with one of my friends after he called me a "faggot" for not having watched Naruto. However, if he didn't do that, I wouldn't have been introduced to the series. Luckily I forgave him and have gotten over this.

- When I first entered this community, I felt that I would never fit in and would be left out, especially after the Dragon Bebop Z fiasco in 2002. Luckily I was proven wrong and many of the detractors have become my closest friends.

- I have a desire to learn how to cook restaurant quality food and even wanted to take culinary classes in 2005. I might try to take classes again someday.

- It's almost guaranteed that I like the radio edit better

- I tend to hate main characters and love villains, so I'm always rooting for the badguys

- My favorite character always dies... always

- I got into editing when I fell in love with the non-linear editing suite at a public television station where I interned for my senior year in high school

- I stopped reading/watching Death Note when L died, cuz I didn't give a fuck what happened to any of the other characters :book:

- I stopped reading/watching Naruto when the 'Tobito' theory was disproved. That would have been epic! :nose:

- I'm an emotional masochist. I love reading/watching stuff that rips my heart out and stomps on it as I get all choked up and sniffly

- I never cry about anything in real life, just books and movies

- I once broke my arm trying to do jumping jacks on my brand new rollerblades. My arm was strapped to a My Little Mermaid book. One of those ones with the buttons that make noises. It was the only entertainment I had for hours when we waited for the ER to call in the doctors as they had been stripped down to a holiday skeleton crew. We were hosting thanksgiving that year, so my entire extended family visited me in the hospital.

- My iTunes is possessed. I have over 5000 songs that I keep on constant shuffle and it always manages to choose creepily appropriate music. It's scary and awesome at the same time. Earlier this week, I had a conversation at work about being ashamed for enjoying Celine Dion songs, where I admitted to having "My Heart Will Go On" and the first thing the shuffle played when I got home was.. take a wild guess. Tonight, I watched FF7AC Complete and not 5 minutes after the movie was over my shuffle played "One Winged Angel". Another time, I was reading a dramatic scene where a serial killer was sneaking up behind the main character and Matchbox 20's Bright Lights was playing quietly as background noise until Rob Thomas scared the crap out of me with that "FOR GOD'S SAKE TURN AROUND!" line. These are just the things I remember from the last month or so. It's been going on for months.

Ileia wrote:2. I went to preschool only one day. On that day, a boy was making fun of my freckles. I told him that I would punch him in the face if he didn't stop making fun of me. He said that I wouldn't because I was a girl. So I did. I knocked out two of his front teeth, then left. Left as in, like, left the preschool and walked home. The preschool called my dad and told him what happened and his response was "She's three years old!" So, just let it be known that if you say I can't do something because I'm a girl, I'm going to do it. With gusto.
Forgive me if I use that scenario in a comic someday, that's freaking epic right there.

Also, it's cool to know that I've been able to correctly pronounce the names of people who seem to get weird pronunciations a lot.

1. I've never really hung out with several mixed races at a time that much. I went through phases. From preschool to middle school I hung out with white people, in high school I was with black people. Now in college, I hang out with asian people(mainly b/c the activities I'm involved in have mostly asians involved in)

2. Despite making AMVs, I never considered video editing to be a career until people kept asking if I was a digital media major in college.

3. Actually, I have a video editing job right now, but don't see myself doing it in the future. After taking my senior design courses, I'm definitely satisfied with my computer engineering major

4. I rarely get angry.

5. One thing I'm trying to get out of is being a procrastinator. I procrastinate in almost every aspect of life. School, social life, family, etc. I put off hw til last minute. I put off getting to know people til later, or until it's too late. I put off calling family at home, etc. I really don't know why either....

6. My current primary hobby is dancing. I've danced in 2 different hip hop crews and have choreographed for both.

7. I only know my mom's side of the family. My dad's side is the biggest mystery of my life. I guess they're still somewhere in the motherland.

8. Some nicknames I've had through my life include: Nitrogen, Niggahiya, and Tentacle Beast

9. I love seeing people around me succeed in life. Definitely one of the things that makes life worth living.

10. I love giving a helping hand in a heartbeat(or actually, it's hard for me to say no, lol) but asking for a favor is one of the hardest things for me to do.

: I'm stubborn. I always strive to be independant and do things, that I've started on my own, myself.
: Last summer I was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer and was rushed to a hospital and underwent surgery. I'm however currently (seemingly) cancer-free and am trying to live my life to it's fullest. Even if it sometimes puts me down.
: I play the drums, also play in a newly started Metalcore band.
: I lost a huge portion of my friends around the same time I had gotten cancer. Reasons still not fully known.
: I study Film & Visual Design (for my second year so far) and also freelance in the area of film/design (Music videos, trailers, commercials) professionally.
: My Canon EOS 550D is my child, my baby, and is used for basically all my pictures and film shots.
: I often come by as arogant and overconfident, without intending to, and therfore get avoided by the people that are not willing to give out chances of learning to know others fully before building their opinion. This more likely and mostly online though.
: I recently settled into a serious relationship with a wonderful girl.
: I dream of working with film and visuals. Together with Niwa & Victor we are starting a graphics company (Film, Animation, Mo-grath, Img-retuch, etc.) which will premiere soon @ http://www.altergraphics.se. With that, I'll be 1 step closer to realize my dream.
: I'm always told I look older. But I'm always the youngest in my social situations. (skipped a year in school, older girlfriend, older band-members, older friends in general, little brother)

Your memory is as good as you say

It's all good and I'm pretty sure I'll say your name right the next time we meet.

- Speaking of gatherings, another fact I want to share is that I honestly and wholeheartedly want to spend equal time getting to know and chat with everyone which is theoretically impossible with large gatherings. It's kind of heartbreaking to me when I can't talk with everyone. Whenever I only talk to someone briefly, I always feel bad like I gave them the shaft.

This is why I really prefer smaller groups since it's easier to chat with everyone.

1. The :ying: emote is named after me.

2. By a similar token, my friends all call me by my last name. I generally only introduce myself by my first name to co-workers or people I never intend on seeing again.

3. Although I haven't actively practice since high school, I've played the piano for as long as I can remember. In fact, I can't remember not being able to play the piano. For me, reading music is almost as natural as talking.

4. I've been using computers for almost as long as I've been playing the piano. I guess my fingers are pretty dexterous as a result. My typing speeds average about 100 - 110 WPM if I'm just typing off of a prompt.

5. The school I went to is frequently known as "Coca-Cola University" because it receives absurd endowments from Coke every year. Consequently, I have not drank Pepsi or any of its other sodas since I was seventeen years old (I may be guilty of having a bottle of Aquafina somewhere down the line; I'm not sure).

6. I like to do creative writing when I can find both the time and inspiration. I try to bully myself into keeping a regular writing schedule, but I never manage to stick to it. I have never taken a class on creative writing; I am entirely self-taught from books (and naturally, I suck at it).

7. I study competitive video games as a hobby. I used to try to be competitive in Street Fighter, but I don't have the time or energy to do it anymore. However, I do try to stay updated on the metagames of all the current fighting games, and I'll even read up on other genres I don't even play (most notably RTSes).

8. My musical tastes have varied a lot over the years. I first got into music in middle school, and I was into nu-metal (i.e. Limp Bizkit, Korn) when it was really big. I moved onto stuff like Tool, then had a really big trance phase. After that I started to listen to almost nothing but video game music, went on to underground hip-hop. Now I mostly listen to classical and pop music.

9. I am largely responsible for both driving Serv0 out of this community and introducing ponies into it.

10. Two of my favorite foods are pan-fried tofu skins and hardboiled eggs soaked in soy sauce.
