Re: 10 Random things meme
1) I have synesthesia. It's a genetically inherited....condition, where basically, unrelated senses affect each other. For example, smelling colors, or hearing them. Mine is more like random association, in that sometimes one stimulus will automatically drive another unrelated one. It varies, but the most common thing that happens with me is that I can see colors when I think of numbers or letters. Each number or letter has it's own unique color, and some have two colors. Something else I do is associate music with random places. When I hear a song, I can envision a physical location. These 99% of the time have nothing to do with the song, but all of them are places I have actually been. And it's not like "hey this song reminds me of..." but definitely "Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven" = the second floor balcony of the apartment I lived in during college. I should also note that I had no clue that I had synesthesia until inthesto and Fall_Child42 diagnosed me on an episode of TYHMG. I promptly looked up synesthesia, and holy shit, I have it. .______.
2) I am highly edumacated. I hold a master's degree in science. It's science instead of fine art due to the strange origins of the program I attended. While it should have been an art program, it sprang up as a technology program due to some grant money. But that's okay, I learned a lot of cool stuff. My focus was character animation. I wanted to work at Pixar, but during grad school that dream changed...
3) I am currently working on a 50~60 minute long (feature length) anime film. The working title is "Akazawa." The story is about a couple of people who experience paranormal things in a small town, only to have them escalate into massive techno-horror-science proportions. The film has two human characters, a couple of side characters (who are basically just torsos), and about 12 different "entities." I currently have finished the script, and am in the process of storyboarding it. The next step will be to convert the small thumbnail storyboards into larger more detailed ones, and make an animatic of the whole thing. After that, I shall purchase about $5000 worth of software (3dsmax, a shader plugin, Adobe Suite) and about $1000 worth of recording gear, and begin the actual production. I can say in all honesty that I have the skill to do every part of this thing myself except for a) voiceover, and b) musical score. Those I will have to commission. You might be thinking "damn dude, that's a lot of shit to do/buy/money/time." Yeah, yeah it is. My current estimate on just the production of it is 5-7 years. Don't really care how long it takes, just know I can die happy if I finish it. Some guys might blow $40k on a car or something, I prefer to use money to create things.
4) I worked in a family owned plant nursery for about 7 years. I love plants, growing plants, gardening, etc. I love nature. I'm going to eventually buy a house just so I can have a yard to plant full of interesting plants.
5) I (need to) build movie props. In addition to my animated film, I have written a couple of live action screenplays. I've built some...interesting things for several of them, and I have about 20 cardboard boxes full of random junk that I will eventually make shiny mad science items out of. Need house so I can also have a shop.
6) I don't really like money. Unfortunately I need it to buy things to use to create cool shit with.
7) I hate corporations and bureaucracy, yet I work at a company that is rife with it. You know, to get money to buy things to use to create cool shit with.
8) I constantly have story and character ideas. So much so that I usually carry a notebook and a flash drive around with me to capture them. I have a giant folder full of story ideas, script ideas, art ideas, novel ideas, you name it. I also have several large file boxes of notebooks and folders, full of almost everything I drew or wrote when I was a kid. I'm now starting to take a lot of these to completion, "Akazawa" being one of them.
9) I'm a pretty famous graffiti artist. But like Banksy, I will remain anonymous :O (I'm lying. I really like street art though.)
10) When I graduated college I couldn't find full time work for a year. I worked at the greenhouse in the meantime. I remember thinking "you know, I'd really like to move to Raleigh NC. That place is pretty happenin for a small city. There are lots of smart people there too." And now, 5 years later, and after living in 3 states and being laid off from the same company twice, I'm now living in Raleigh, and still working for the same shit company. But I really fecking like Raleigh

Re: 10 Random things meme
1) The number 10 comes up everywhere in my life. My address, last name, date of birth, several permutations and side-points thereof, and so forth. '10' keeps recurring. My birthdate was October 10, 1985 - 10/10/85. 'Eighty-five' has ten letters in it. I turned 25 on 10/10/10 - twenty-five has ten letters in it, and 2x5=10. My last name has ten letters in it. I live on 10th Ave.
There'd probably be more things if I actually took the time to think about it.
2) I was in advanced programs from the end of 2nd grade through the end of 10th (haha, I told you!). Once-a-week Gifted in Elementary school, general Tech/Science Magnet in middle school (additionally, with MEGSSS in 6th and a secondary 'Gifted' course in 8th), and International Baccalaureate in high school (ok, technically Pre-IB, and despite what the current School Board Administrator says, Pre-IB is what they called it).
3) I took German classes from 6th through 12th. 7 years' worth. I'm extremely rusty because I haven't really used it since graduating, but I often surprise myself. I took French for 2 years in high school as an IB requirement (the IB German course was discontinued at the school I attended), but barely retained any of it, aside from mistakenly saying 'Je mange au chat' on a test.
4) I spent 9 hours in scorching heat during Warped '03 - I was sunburned so badly I turned purple. I was working in 'similar' (read: pushing carts around at a Winn-Dixie) conditions that year, so it didn't really affect me then aside from the usual pain of a bad sunburn...but when I went to Warped '04 (after not having worked in two months or so), I had to leave after a half hour because I got heatsick. Ever since then, I can't really be out in strong heat for more than about 45 minutes before I start feeling nauseous.
5) A week after getting my tonsils out (I was 9), I had to be rushed back to the hospital on account of blood loss - the patches had come off and it had drained into my stomach. I first coughed up a little into the kitchen sink, and then a few minutes later vomited much more into the toilet. There are probably few things that can happen to a person that are as unnerving as throwing up a ton of blood. It was enough to make me light-headed and come very close to passing out.
6) My tastes in music are extremely broad. I often genre-hop from song to song. A mix CD I put together had Sarah McLachlan and KMFDM back-to-back. That's a tamer example.
7) I miss the 90s. Stuff was so much better then. I really miss 8th grade ('99-'00), as that year in particular was just pure, concentrated awesome.
8) I suffered from massive, paralytic panic attacks in high school, as well as having problems with depression and self worth that got me sent to therapists at several different times. After one extremely bad attack in 10th grade, I was put on Paxil. While it did help my mood (the attacks were rare as it was), the dosage was too high and I had problems staying awake in class. Caused me to fail Trigonometry, which I was doing well in and understood worlds better than Geometry. Since graduating I've not been exposed to the main triggers, and the only bad flare-up was prior to having my wisdom teeth removed.
Another side point here is that my early AMV editing helped serve as a form of self-therapy. Not in what/how I edited, but just the creative activity of it.
9) With how long I've been watching anime (15 or 16 years now), I'm rather jaded. Doesn't mean I don't enjoy new series, but the, oh, post-2002 Internet and con fandom has major ways of getting under my skin very quickly.
10) Depending on how one chooses to determine it, the immediate part of my mom's side of family (also meaning me) has a Bacon number of 3. It just requires you step outside the acting or Hollywood realm.
There'd probably be more things if I actually took the time to think about it.

Re: 10 Random things meme
1. I'm a girl! Just sayin cuz I've seen ppl on the forum have sometimes referred to something I said... "he said..ect" Just because I have an adorable pic of a guy for an avatar.. o.o
2. I didn't go to high school. Really. Dropped out in 9th grade after just a couple months. So going into college I had an 8th grade education and now I'm a senior undergrad Poli Sci major XD In all the time I've been in college, I don't think I missed a damn thing other than the stress of high school politics. =P Good riddance.
3. I have Bipolar 1, OCD, ADD, and anxiety. Sounds like a lot, but it's actually pretty common for these conditions to occur together. I've been institutionalized three times, but all before I was 18.
4. I absolutely LOVE rock shows! The most fun in the world
5. I live in my parents basement which makes me feel like a total failure and cliche.
6. There are lots of spiders down here, so I've gotten quite used to them. I've never minded bugs, and I actually wanted to be an entomologist when I was like five o.O
7. I broke my wrist in grade school and wore a neon green cast for a while.
8. I fucking hate liars
A pathological liar ruined my faith in humanity when I was about 18, 19. I wrote a song about him called "How to hate" because he taught me that. Then my last serious relationship was with a compulsive liar. I haven't dated in like 2 or 3 years cuz that really fucked with me and I couldn't forgive myself for falling for that shit again and wasting over a year on him.
9. I hate suicide. It's fucking selfish. I had a good friend that killed himself and I'll never forgive him.
10. I love languages! I speak English, Spanish (was fluent when I was a kid so even when I forget it comes back pretty easily), I'm learning Japanese in school and plan to become fluent, if I can find a way after that I wanna learn to speak Arabic.
