How many real-life friends could amv editors possibly hope to bring to a competition? Enough to sway a vote?

Are we even *allowed* to have that many friends with this sort of high-level geekery?

I've actually had someone try to rig a vote like that when my contest (AAC) was somewhat smaller. It's amazing what a group of friends accosting people for votes can sway things when you only have 100 or fewer ballots turned in.

I like to think about that, if they are REAL friends, or at least REAL people will vote for THEIR favorite and not just to please their friends.

Heh, you got my point. I actually remember one Iron Chef we hold during a contest: Me vrs 7 editors, though none of my friends vote me D:

And the worst thing is that I even win without using all my best footage and softwares

SMS voting would be really convenient in some ways, but it leaves the process open to a whole new class of haxor shenanigans; more importantly, it makes it very difficult for the organizers to prove that there were no haxor shenanigans.

Considering that there's already always one entrant at every contest who feels they got dicked, organizers need to provide some kind of assurance that the voting process is above board, and paper ballots are the best way to achieve that. Paper makes it very difficult to cheat on a large scale.

SMS voting is a neat idea... until you realize you can easily set up 100 gmail accounts with google voice in an afternoon and set them to auto-forward messages that will all seem like they come from unique sources.
