jezz..didn't think fps would even matter. When Animes are originally 23.976. Dear lord.
Well, if you're already being pedantic about it anyway, then I feel compelled to point out that there is no 6 in 29.97. :P

It was a fair question in the beginning, considering that most contests that convert everything to MPEG-2 or burn to DVDs have told me that 23.976 with the pulldown flag set is fine. But now the coordinator HAS spoken and clarified the rules, so we ought to just follow them.

The big reason is I dont know how to do the 3:2 dropdown flag. If I run the contest next year I will work to learn that so I can accept the 23.976 videos. But as there is just under 2 weeks until the submissions close it would be unfair to everyone if I changed any rules now. This is why I didnt change them last year when I learned how to get mp4 files into the format I show things at con last year after I started taking submissions.

So I have a video I want to submit, but first I would like your working definition of "Offbeat."

The Rules wrote:5: Do not include any bumpers or slates, or any text or graphic overlays that do not relate to the entry itself. This means no text overlays, television station bugs, computer program watermarks, or similar graphics. No subtitles may appear without artistic merit. Sakura-Con will create custom-designed titles with each entrant's name, the entry name and category/number to maintain a professional look throughout the contest.
Will the custom titles also contain the video's credits like anime & song used?

If not, are we allowed to integrate that information into the video?

I think it's important to credit the original sources. Especially if a video is largely intended to advertise the anime and make people want to watch it. That's why I'm asking.

Offbeat is primarily designed for videos that do not fit into the other categories

The custom titles do not include these credits because of peoples use of "Various" or other inconsistent ways of listing their sources, as well as limited space within the title slate and time constraints of the contest

I am going to ask that credits not be attached to the video as it would look inconsistent with the other contest entries as well as could push the time constraints of the contest
