Agreed 100% we shouldn't lose our contest unless every other community is willing to drop theirs as well.godix wrote:I still think an intercommunity contest, if there will be one, should *NOT* be the JCAs. The JCAs were specifically designed as a compliment to the VCA, which inherently ties them to the org.

You gotta love the drama
Being a judge - as any JCA judge can tell you - isn't easy as you might think. It requires lots of time and making many difficult decisions with which someone is bound to disagree. On the other hand it is well worth the effort, since you get to watch TONS of awesome stuff you missed throughout the year.
From my side I can tell you this: yes, I'm part of the org community, but I'm also keeping track of what's happening in the Russian and Polish communities and I tried to promote videos unknown to the .org to the best of my abilities (with some success, ie. COLOLOR). Still, I am fully aware my preception is very limited - I have no idea what's going on in, let's say, French, Italian, Czech or Hungarian communities. It is simply impossible to track every possible community (time limitations, language barrier etc.) - that's why we need judges from various countries. Plus some other minor improvements in the JCAs formula. I'm to tired and/or drunk to write about them now
In the end, running the JCA's is worth it if you get comments like these:

The main purpose of VCA/JCA is (for me) to discover all the good videos I missed during the past year.

I haven't finished reading this thread yet, but I have to say I was so happy/shocked I practically screamed when I saw the results. Thanks so much and congrats to all the other winners as well.

^ Was supposed to be in the VCA thread, had too many tabs open to read. But if I didn't I probably would have forgotten to go through this one tonight. I hadn't even realized I also won Best Trailer in the JCAs yet as well.Melichan923 wrote:I haven't finished reading this thread yet, but I have to say I was so happy/shocked I practically screamed when I saw the results. I also have something to say about disqualifications for best first video (and the like)... First off, Hare Hare Youkai wasn't my first AMV, so it certainly deserved its disqualification... I didn't even know it was nominated for the VCAs/JCAs until tonight...
But I'm pretty certain no one on this site could tell from looking at my sister's youtube account which AMV was the first I worked on... so I'm inclined to thinking that maybe people should just ask.

Absence of VCA drama mean arrival of JCA drama. *gets popcorn and waits*
