Latest Rumor in the Gaming World (Nintendo to Buy Capcom?)

Power-rumouring overnight in Japan states Nintendo is poised to make an outright acquisition of Capcom.

This staggering news will see Nintendo entirely consume Capcom, taking full ownership of all development and publishing operations around the world. From what we can gather, the announcement will be made later this month, perhaps December 21 or 22.

In some respects, the validity of the gossip is glaringly obvious. Capcom seems to have lost all motivation for developing games for systems other than GameCube. It’s most lucrative franchise, Resident Evil, is, aside from a PlayStation 2 online tech demo, completely exclusive to Nintendo.

Furthermore, the only games to have been announced by Capcom of late have been for GameCube. You have to question the motives of a firm that will announce four brand new IPs, only to relegate them to the least profitable console on the market. And the question remains, where are Capcom’s PlayStation 2 and Xbox titles?

Some even commented that Capcom’s last PlayStation 2 AAA title, Auto Modelista, seemed to have been abandoned before it was properly completed.

Thus far, Product Number 03, Killer 7, Viewtiful Joe and Dead Phoenix are all confirmed as GameCube exclusive, as well as the massive Resident Evil series

As far as massive rumours go, we think that this is as on the money as it gets. It’s at least more credible than the “Nintendo to sue Sony having discovered it owned the term PlayStation, smashing SCE to pieces and releasing the Nintendo PlayStation” chatter that’s doing the rounds at the moment.

Well All I gotta say is I hope Cap doesnt get bought out from Nintendo. Now I own a Nintendo so I really wont care who they go to but I think playing Devil May Cry on a Gc controller would be fucked. I love my Gc but I just dont like the controller....not to that tht will stop me from buying a DMC game if they were bought out

Bah, you kids and your videogames these days. Back in MY day, I considered myself lucky to have just a NES or Genesis or quarters to play THE Capcom game, Street Fighter II!

Now you kids have dual or triple consoles and have to pay $1.00 for an arcade game!

I don't think that Capcom will ever go exclusively to GC, there's too much of a market on the other consoles (eps PS2) for them to monogomise.

And also beat'em ups on the GC controller...~shivers~

But yeah, I will be disappointed if it happens. I'm just glad that Maximo 2 + DMC2 are already coming to PS2...

Being a game cube owner this would rase the value of my system by a shite load. Though I mourn the loss of rare trhe purchase of Capcom would end up more fruitfull for ninten do than X-Box. Rare had been losing nintendo money it was time to go. Rare had 10% of nintendos game sales in 99 and when down to 1% in 01.

It would suck ass if Capcom went to nintido. They make some of the greatest games out there. I think in the long run it would hurt capcom because the game cube just does not have the power that PS2 has and Xbox. Those to system I think will kill nintendo off one day (Wouldnt mind though Nintdo noramlly always behind in the times of making new system). Also I do not want to have to buy a game cube just to play megaman games. Those have been comeing out on the ps1 before the other systems and Megaman is my favor game.

That was wack timeless...ps2 and x-box arent really any more powerful then the gc. But i think that artical is wacked also...jus look at what happend to dc...capcom was all over that thing and the dc died. And the reason capcom is proly makin so many games for gc is because its easy to make games for it. Ps2 is the worst system out now for developing games...thats proly why they dont make many ps2 games..i think x-box is easy to develop for..but microsoft sux so i can see that why they strayed away from that

I don't really care as long as they have good Capcom games for my Gamecube.

Why does no one like the GC controllers? I love them. I wouldn't use any other controller. But I mean I like the ones that come with it, not those Super Powered, Extra Buttoned, Funny Shaped ones you can buy from a different company.

I still can't believe RARE won't be with Nintendo anymore.

I was happy when I saw the preview for Perfect Dark on GameCube, now who knows what system it will be on...

to tell you the truth most game devolpoer do not like the gc due to the fact that they are very limited on how big the games can be compared to the ps2 and xbox. (gc 128mb to a game to the ps2 and xbox 4.7 gigs to a game) The ps2 problem is it ram it as low like gc and the xbox is kicking every ass right now in power

yes i do. It call I read the review on the 3 system but the gc uses min-cds those only hold 128 mb on them. that and it was stated in the review. PS2 and Xbox both use DVDs for there games and thouse hold 4.7 gigs on them. Give you a hint dont try to tell me that I do not know anything. I pretty damn smart and I know more about the electonic world than most people and when I state a fact like what I said bout the game cube and what not I know what I talking bout and i done my homework on them now thank you and try to have a nice day
