That picture is from the absolutely BADASS Japanese movie Battle Royal, is there a north American release of that movie, or where did you find that picture?

As far as there being a NA release of Battle Royale, that's a negative. however there are SIX versions of the movie available on DVD alone.

The original R2: No english subs, picture quality could be better

Original HKDVD bootleg: english subs, but they suck. Crappy picture and sound.

DTS HKDVD: Better picture and sound, but still craptacular subs

Legal R0 release by Tartan: really good english subs and decent picture/audio (DTS) but subs are hard burned onto the video so you can't turn them off.

Legal R0 Tartan re-release: Great subs, and this time they can be turned off. Best picture clarity with the exception of the R2 re-release. Killer 5.1 sound. This is the version I own.

Extended edition R2 re-release: no subs, great picture, great sound, and 10 extra minutes of footage. This is a 2 disc set.

There may be a bootleg of the 2 disc set, I wouldn't know, and I wouldn't get it. Tartan is a pretty respectable company based in the UK and they did a decent job encoding the movie.

Oh my... there is 10 extra minutes on one version. What's in those 10 minutes, so I know what version I have, and if I don't have the 10 extra minutes to know if I should get the other version.

It is an incrediable movie for sure. My friends have watched it. The thing about the movie is that it's a very violent movie but at the end your brain is just twisted around due to all the thinking you have to do along with the film.

Anneke: the extended version is only available as a 2 disc set, so if you've got a 2 disc set, chances are it's the extended one. I haven't seen it but I have read about it. Most of it is added insignificant scenes, like a basketball game near the beginning (which was probably cut because it spoiled the mood) and a lot of the changes is CG blood. Yes. They added MORE gore to almost all the deaths.

Kthulhu: you're right. She's the VA for Asuka from Evangelion, as well as a whole lot of other Japanese voices, which is kida freaky, because I watch the film and all I see is Asuka explaining to everyone how to kill each other ^.~

I'm surprised I didn't pick that up the first time through, but your right. The truth is that I have it in VHS (or rather, my hsot family does) and I have enough trouble trying to figure out whats being said ^_^
