It's not my fault that i've never seen someone other then a regular in the chan ask if anyone wanted to see a beta. Maybe if you stuck around long enough to interact with the people in the chan they might be more willing to watch a beta? You're basically asking for people to immediately jump to a random persons whim to click on a link they posted two seconds after they came into the room.
The chatroom is, and has been, probably the best place other then the forum (and in some cases better) to interact with other editors and get feedback and help. Like the forum though, you can't expect the people in there to respond or even be active the instant you arrive. If no one answers the first time, stick around, chat with the people and wait for more people to become active then ask again. You can't expect people to beta test in the chan if you yourself aren't willing to stick around and contribute as well. If more people were in the chan to begin with, that increases the number of people who are willing to give feedback. The chan might be a small section of the org but it's one of it's better resources for getting feedback and help faster. In some cases more reliably because the authors of the guides frequent and also a lot of tech savvy individuals, some of which don't even edit.

Oh yea, also, most of the famous editors don't publicly beta test their videos.

i don't see why they can't whip up a subforum for betas in the opinions section.
it'll probably die but i like the idea and who knows, it might be active and make for better videos in the announcement forum.

Yep, most of the people just don't betaPwolf wrote:Oh yea, also, most of the famous editors don't publicly beta test their videos.
Btw, I have seen a lot of unknown people in the chan get good betas from locals - it's about how you time it (if you come when everyone's asleep you can't expect good number of replies) and how you ask.

If people aren't using the means provided already (Opinions sub-forum, #amv-review) why would they start using a new section that's exactly the same thing?

Do you really need more than two or three people in most cases? Are you editing or taking a poll where you need hundreds of samples? Also note, OMG LOOK AT MY AMAZING VIDEO PLOX!!!!111 is one of the least likely ways to get constructive feedback from IRC that I can think of.OtakuGray wrote:I've tested this. Its rare. About two or three people look at it but in the end its still only a small margin of the whole org...unless ofc ur a famous editor or you promote by going OMG LOOK AT MY AMAZING VIDEO PLOX!!!!111 until someone finally clicks the link.

My point is...we shouldn't have too. We need a more efficient way of showing a beta to someone and getting feedback quickly.Pwolf wrote:Maybe if you stuck around long enough to interact with the people in the chan they might be more willing to watch a beta?
godix wrote:Like this one amv. It was all like woosh, zoom with effects. And I was all like whoa awesome. Then that guitar thingies popped up and went dun dun DUN dun then those box thingies went zooming by and twirling around and shit. Oh god, then the hexagons popped up and I was like 'I just got a stiffie'. Then there was the circle with those thingies going around and I blew my load.

Can you rephrase that in a way that doesn't make you sound like an anti-social privileged twat?OtakuGray wrote:My point is...we shouldn't have too.
