whats the best gundam series?

Post by littlegrannyfatpants » Thu Dec 12, 2002 7:29 pm

its a tough choice b/w g gundam and gundam wing for me
for the fighting and stuff g gundan b/c each gundam has techniques unique to them and not just beam weapons(although tose r really cool)
but i like gundam wing b/c of the story line and the gundams look so much cooler.
Anyways, what do y'all think the best series is?

Gundam 0083 was pretty good... and I'm really getting into The 08th MS Team.

But for sheer 1337ness I have to say Char's Counterattack.

The Gundam F91 film was good only because a civilian got killed by an oildrum-sized shell casing from a mobile suit's rifle.

I like Gundam Wing and 08th MS Team. How many Gundam series are there though? I know there is quite a few.

  • Mobile Suit Gundam
    Z Gundam
    ZZ Gundam
Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket
    Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
    Gundam Wing
    G Gundam
    Turn-A Gundam
    Gundam X
    The 08th MS Team
Plus the movies based on the original series, Char's Counterattack, Gundam F91, the live-action G-Saviour and Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz.

And this doesn't include SD Gundam, novels, radio dramas, storylines based around model kit variants or manga. Whew. I miss any?

Gundam - Gundam was a good starter series although the redundant amount of drama got annoying.

Gundam Zeta - This series has a good mix of drama and action. It also is the series where Amaro and Char join forces against the Titans

Gundam: Char's Counter Attack - This movie was not only bad but confusing, I never did get what happened in the end.

Gundam 08th MS Team - I really have nothing negative to say about this series but I have nothing really good to say either. It was a good pass of time

Gundam: Wan in the Pocket - I hate this series, not only is it short but it had such a weak story line.

Gundam Wing - Not only the longest series but one of the best on most memorable. I loved the fact that the pilots were rebels and didn't really represent anyone but themselves.

Gundam 83 Stardust Memory - This series had great potential but I was somewhat let down. The story was decent but over dramatized at parts. The thing I hated most about this series was Ko's childish behavior.

Turn a Gundam - This is probably the most original of all the gundam series. The Gundam design was inefficient in the fact that the cockpit was open to attack. Also the fact that Earth is much different from the usual futurastic setting.

G Gundam - I really dont like this Gundam series, it strays to far away from the original formula of war time action. I loved the fact that they used a whole new control system but they went to far with it. Some of the moves the pull of are either just too stupid or impossible.

Gundam X - This series is just wierd. They use the most powerful Gundam in this series but the story is lacking. And is it just me or is the main pilot look just like Duo from Gundam Wing.

So in summary . . . Gundam Zeta, most definitly Gundam Z.

I have not seen a lot of Gundam

However: Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket is such a great title... Gundam or otherwise. It is so moving and covers themes that are universal. In the review I wrote for Anime Tourist, I likened it to "Hope and Glory" as well as "Empire of the Sun"...

Gundam 0083: Stardust Memories was also very impressive... nice complex interactions and complicated plot points. Just a very captivating series.

So... those are the toppers on my list.

i think that g gundam is the blacksheep of the gundam family
and i must admit that there are some rather sill, pointless, and stupid things in there but its a great show. plus its the only gundam series in which the pilots and in turn the gundams themselves can transform and become stronger like gundams going super saiyan.

I have seen all the series except for the new Gundam Seed

My favorite will have to be Turn A Gundam, mainly because I like the story, and the fact that Yoko Kanno does most of the Soundtrack
