I never said the story wasn't there... but, IMO, with the song used, the video should've been about the two main characters and only them. I think adding the other characters and events that don't involve those two main chars distract from what the song is about. I don't care about Faldio (or what ever his name is) and his little lackey dieing, they have nothing to do with Alicia and Welkin's relationship.

IMO, the song is about two people going through a rough patch in their relationship... About 1:26ish
And we smiled,
Our faces like a mirror
Showing us our secret sides.
But then the fights...
The sharp words splintering the night,
How I couldn't be what you'd need...
But oh how I could make you bleed...
During that section you see random people storming a beach, random people dying and nowhere do you see the two characters interacting in anyway. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm not saying the video is bad, there are plenty of people who like it. As a video that chronicles the events of the anime, sure, great. I just don't like the execution, it doesn't fit the song IMO. I would've gone about it differently.

Going to have to disagree with your disagreement there =P If you don't show Faldio and his soldier getting killed in battle then how can you show the scene where Alicia was made into a Valkyur against her will and the subsequent relationship problems it causes with Welkin when she gets moved from the squad into the army? Her turning into a valkyur is like a catalyst to how Alicia's relationship with Welkin ends up. Can't just show Alicia suddenly glow blue, would confuse a lot of viewers unfamiliar with VC I think.

Thanks guys, I like to see my video talked about and people opinions on it, good or bad. I respect Scott for his view on it and appreciate his reasoning behind it.
To throw in my two cents on why I chose to include other characters in the video over only focusing on the two main characters (though I do hope it came through that they were the center of the video hehe).
I felt that focusing solely on Alicia and Welkin alone would have been too close, I just didn't think that without including some of the other characters the real 'danger' of the setting would have been shown, it would have just been a video of 'closeup of her, closeup of him, side shot of them both' sorta thing. I wanted more depth. And I felt that the other characters were important to the story of the main characters, that they added to the setting of where they all were and it was war, not just love. I wanted to showcase love during war, that's why I chose the song because she's singing about a relationship that's like a war of it's own.

As for the specific verse mentioned, I understand the songwriter was talking about two people specifically, but I thought it could be taken general enough to be talking about their group. I hear the verse as going from happy to fighting in an instant and that's what I was going for in that section, I go from showing them winning, to losing dearly inspite of that and again, I wanted to ramp up the feeling of a dire situation.

As Oro nodded at, I also felt that to include Faldio with only him shooting Alicia would have been totally out of the blue, and I wanted to show earlier that he was a friend and him going from that to fucked up. I didn't think that it would have made sense without showing him earlier in the video as well, and the only way to do that without him coming off as another suiter for her, was to show a bit more of the whole group setting. Yes in the show he was into her, but I didn't want that in my vid. As it is, I've had people think it was Welkin shooting Alicia instead of Faldio and being very confused, I was hoping to have less confusion by showing the death of his squad.

So yeah that's just a touch of my thought process XD

Thank you to everyone who'se said awesome stuff about it, it makes me happy :3 And to those who don't really care for it, thanks for giving it a chance anyways ^_^

Love, love, LOVE IT! <3

Always good to see a Valkyria Chronicles video since we don't get many of them. This one definitely tops the ones I've seen so far.

I generally like it, but I'm bit a saddened that you chose to cut nearly a full minute from this particular Vienna Teng song...

It's not my fave from you Liz and I think that has a lot to do with the song being cut :X
