Oh I realize that; but that statement still gave me the cornholio mental image.

Well...every section of the contest needs love, in one way or another. :rofl:

Sent out my stuff the other day, though a few of those were being stupid to render. Here's to hoping there's no trouble on playback. *Knocks on wood* This is also my first time sending in a video that doesn't contain anime footage, so that should be something to see at the con. Now, onto finishing cosplays, (most of which aren't even my own). |:>

I'm glad to see editors submitting videos according to the new open content style that we've been running since last year. The more the merrier IMHO, of any type of video really.
~~~~~~~~~
Though as of right now we're really hurting for comedy. It's really the only category that is hurting for entries at this point. Not saying we don't need more entries in the other categories, just that as of right now there isn't enough entries in comedy for that category to stick for an award. So come on guys, lets see you flex your funny bones!
~~~~~~~~~
Also, please take a moment and check your entry status. This goes for everyone who entered. I have performed the first round of QC on all entries that have been submitted (basic check for rules adherence) and have updated entry status accordingly. Unless you check your status you may not notice an error that you can easily correct and resubmit.
~~~~~~~~~
Oh, and I should add just in case the need arises: We only have time for a 4 hour contest block at the convention. If we happen to receive more entries that pass QC then we can fit in the 4 hour block we will make a selection of the best entries from the contest to be shown at the convention. We will try to show at least 1 entry per editor during the con, and if there is any extra time for free play we will try to throw in any 'cut' entries into those blocks as well. However this does not mean that any entries will be cut from competing. Since we judge entries prior to the con (minus the audience award) every entry still has a chance to win something even if they are not all shown at the con.
I'm not expecting this to happen, but we came awfully close last year so I figured I'd give a heads up just in case. *Nate forgot to add that to the rules*
Well, I have a comedy video that I could send in (it's the only one I have that's eligible). However, I'd be taking it out of sending-to-new-cons retirement; but if you're really hurting for comedy I could break it out again.
Alright ya'll. We're getting just down to the wire now. Exactly 4 weeks until the deadline! Just a friendly reminder that all entries are due in the coordinator's hands (thats me) on October 1st, 2010 EDT.
What exactly does this mean?
All main in entries must be in my hands no later then that Friday. I MAY accept an entry by mail if it shows up on Saturday or Monday after the deadline, but that is not a promise!
As for FTP accounts, the usual 2 day window will be allowed for them. That is, you MUST have your entry info submitted and an FTP request in by Midnight October 2nd EDT! At that time I will close down the Entry submission and FTP request systems. You will then have until Midnight October 4th EDT to have your videos uploaded. If you have started submitting your video by that time and are still not done your account will be left open, however once you log off (or if your connection fails) you will not be allowed back on. Keep this in mind. Once all connections to the server are closed all still open FTP accounts will be closed and entries will be sent through QC.
The closure of the FTP system will open up the re-submission system. That is, if your entry is found to be problematic you will be given 1 chance after the deadline to re-submit a corrected entry. If after the re-submission your entry still does not meet the basic QC your entry will be DQ'ed.
As for entries already sent in, make sure you check the entry status page for updates regarding your entry. If there is an issue with your entry it will be outlined in the comments section. You are not restricted to only 1 re-submission before the deadline. So get your entries in early in order to be sure your entries will be completely checked and viable for the contest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

On a note about the status field. The following status are the ones you should look out for:

Un-viewed: We haven't looked at the entry form yet
Entry Form Received: We have looked at your entry form
Video Received: We have received your video
Video Checked: Your video has passed QC (there is nothing wrong with the entry)
Problems Found: There is an issue with your entry or it is Disqualified. Check the comments for more info.
Video Accepted: Your video has been accepted to compete in the contest. (the entry passed final QC and entry cull)
Video Accepted for Overflow: The entry will not compete in the contest. (the video either did not pass final QC and entry cull or was submitted as non-competing)

Both Accepted entry status' are generally only checked after the deadline as the final QC and Cull happens after all entries have been received. If your video shows Video Checked then it is ready for the final QC and Cull.
