Besides, how can I give a good honest opinion on something that doesn't make me feel well? It'll be ok, right Mr. Disembodied Voice?"

Billy -"HEY LITTLE JIMMY THE RULES ASK YOU TO TRY ALL THE DAMN CANDY NOT JUST SOME WHAT ARE YOU A PUSSY?"

Oh whats that Jimmy you want in the baking competition now? Well that's great just sign this form saying you are aware that you will have to judge and taste all the cakes.

Jimmy- "Well gee this is great, but since it's clearly marked I'm going to skip all the cakes that list nutmeg as an ingredient and pick all the ones that didn't as the best even though I didn't taste them all."

Well sure nutmeg can be an acquired taste but the bakers that used it put just as much effort into their baking as everyone else it's not fair to vote against them when you don't even know what they taste like.

Jimmy "Well this one time I tried something with a bit of nutmeg in it and didn't like it so obviously I couldn't possibly see anything good about anything that ever uses nutmeg because ya know every thing that uses nutmeg tastes exactly the same."

Well gee Jimmy then I don't really see why you would agree to be a judge in a competition that asks people to judge cakes and even clearly warns you there will be some with nutmeg in it before signing up.


This isn't like every other contest where you could just 'skip' a category. The categories videos compete in depend on where the judges put them. If the judges refuse to even watch the video before nominating the ones they had seen they are biased for the entire competition not just the 'adult' category.

I don't like mecha. That doesn't make it okay for me to skip every video that uses Eva as a source and justify it by not voting in the mecha category. Just because it uses Eva does not mean it's solely a mech video, it can be comedy, action, horror. But I wouldn't know that because I didn't even bother watching. And since this competition depends on the judges to sort the videos the entire competition is screwed because of your bias, not just one category. Losing because there are other videos that are better than yours is fine and to be expected in a competition of this caliber, losing because the judges don't bother to even watch your video due to their bias on the source is another. Especially when signing up for this contest you are CLEARLY told what types of sources are allowed in and you will be expected to watch and judge fairly.

So you're basing your entire argument on someone else opinion? The whole discussion is based on what our ideas are about participation. The Pro contest has been going on for how long now? It's been successful so far hasn't it? Or maybe all the past winners should all turn in their awards cause now it's been decided that all the participants should be unbiased and watch all the videos?

The quote of the Pro rules I posted earlier were there when I first started entering Pro in 2005. Ever since I first read those rules I have understood them to mean that as an entrant I am now a judge. And as a judge for a contest that allows all kinds of content in that I would be expected to watch and judge all videos, no matter the number or content. I was then asked to sign a form that says I'm fine with that content. The act of signing the form is only a statement that I understand what kind of content will be in the contest. The act of entering is my understanding of what the rules and expectations are as an entrant.

That's how you interpreted the rules. As I said earlier, my interpretation of that statement you quoted doesn't require me to watch all the videos. To me it was just saying you should expect to watch a lot of videos if you enter, not that I have to watch all of them regardless of content. I wouldn't be a very good judge if I didn't watch them all and I never claimed I would be under those circumstances but I wouldn't hold anyone else accountable if they chose to not watch a video or two for what ever reason. I also believe no one can be a good judge, thats me. Even if someone watches all the videos, it doesn't mean they will judge fairly. This is pretty much the thing I've been arguing. My idea of how Pro is/was supposed to be run is apparently different then other peoples opinion. It's actually kind of insulting when someone tells me that I'm "ruining the spirit of Pro" by participating how I've always thought i should. In my eyes, you guys are ruining my vision of "the spirit of pro" by making a big deal about it. I've only been doing it 4 or 5 years and so far it's been a fun experience and I've always held it with higher regard over any other contest. The contest still does what it was meant to do, it always has, so why is this such a huge deal? Does this really make AWA Pro that much lesser of a contest? If it does, I'm sorry I ruined it for you guys. I wont be entering again so you can look forward to next year.

At the end of the day, I'm only going to nominate and vote for videos I like.

Whether you force me to watch something, which you can't, that isn't going to change.

If that makes the people who watch every video without skipping/fast forwarding whatever better than me, so be it. If I skipped and fast forwarded through your video you were never going to get my vote anyways.

Honestly, I would consider that a risk of entering the contest. I knew that the video I sent this year was incomplete and that most people would probably skip the shitty first half and not watch the whole thing. The second half of my video is where the "meat" of the video is located. I knew the risk, and I accept it. You don't see me yelling at people when they said they skipped videos. WHAT THE FUCK?!?! YOU DIDN'T WATCH THE WHOLE THING?!?!?!?!?!?!? To me thats unreasonable. If my video doesn't immediately grab the attention of someone and they decide to skip the rest of it, that's my fault and that's a risk I've accepted. I believe its the same thing with content. If I submit a video that might contain subjective content, I must be prepared to accept that people wont watch the whole thing or watch it at all. Judge or no judge.
