It's the firebombing of tokyo which didnt send the message so we had to drop two A bombs to let them know they couldn't win. took em freakin long enough to surrender.
Now I totally second what UncleMilo wrote about you!
You completely mad, or what? Although I have seen Grave of the Fireflies about 1-1/2 years ago, I remember that there was an A-Bomb dropped! I mean, if it was firebombing, why should all the people, especially the main characters little sister die of radioactivity? Firebombs != Radioactive -_-

You're completely freaked out it you think that the bombing of Japan was a good thing! It's not that Japan was "the good side", but neither so was the USA, the CSSR or even Germany. Nobody is "on the good side" in war. War is just cruel! Nobody wins it, besides the very Grip Reaper himself...

If your attitude is really like you wrote above there, I can only pity your lost soul, for you have no understanding of life.

Peace out,

UncleMilo, you should really take a look at Now and Then, Here and There, if you haven't already. I think it is compareable to Grave of the Fireflies. The series is so brutal, so cruel, it shows war like it is. And the most depressing part about it is, that all of them are just children, so innocent, although driven into a mad man's war.
Hell, I even shared a tear when watching the very end of the series (as I did with GotF)! IMHO the cruelest part of that war is, that children have to kill other children, in order to survive. OMG, the whole series is so depressing! But a must have, if you like GotF.

Peace out,

Actually I think it was malnutrition that killed her. But you could be right.

No, no A-Bomb was dropped. The cities were burned though. Absolutely fantastic movie. Just reading these posts make me want to see it again with friends.
MrOni...........I usually can brush of your comments as childish or just plain silly ignorant but you touched a cord here with me. You're a blind fool if you don't see the horror that senseless cock measuring contest of a war that was.....just like this new one on "terrorism". Don't let them fool you. They're all full of shit.

I just watched it last week, and I'm pretty sure there was no A-bomb dropped. The Americans dropped burning logs on the villages to burn them down. No explosives of any kind at all. Setsuko died of malnutrition, not radioactivity. Seita took her to a doctor near the end of the movie, and he said all she needed was food. She was just sick and diseased. Or at least that's what I got out of it.

Yes, this movie is very sad, and very depressing. It shows what war can do to civilians in a devasted country. However, the more I think about it, the more I realize that I don't pity Seita. I pity his sister, for sure, because she was really too young to help herself. Seita, on the other hand, could have found a job, I think. From what I saw, he didn't attempt to find work or help his aunt out with taking care of them, or anything. He seemed rather lazy to me, if truth be told. Granted, he was a victim, and I did feel bad for him, but there is a point where he should have taken some responsibilty for himself and his sister.

How easy it must be to say "Get a job you fucking slob". :(

Here's a funny fact. Did you know that in some countries there are people that actually have a home and three meals everyday, all paid for by street begging.
A truly lucrative business if one was so inclined.

I think for him a large part of it was that he was too proud to work. But not too proud to steal, so that theory isn't great. I think he was also too proud to stay with his aunt, which is why he moved out.

None of you watched the fucking movie or you would see the freakin tons of napalm being dropped and the homes catching fire. The A bomb was dropped by 1 plane not a sky full of them. If you guys want to be ignorant about history go right ahead that is truly what is wrong with this country. The little girl did die of malnutrition not radioactive sickness you all a bunch of tards are what. Watch the damned movie.

A better movie is one called railway of the stars because it's a bunch of japs that were occupying korea and now they have to escape the communist and they have to rely on the koreans they enslaved for help. Yes Grave of the fireflys has some intense scenes in it but like every Miya what's his face film it's over rated.

Mr Oni
Mr. Oni has again and again posted some hateful, insensitive and useless drivel in the past, but this is a new low.

The movie is about how children were made to suffer during wartime. It doesn't matter what war we talk about... the movie is more about making us think about the suffering of innocents in the time of war.

I wish I could even talk coherently about my rage that comes to my mind when I read a post as empty and horrid as this.

I have already written many a post on what a wretched piece of human damage Mr. Oni is. Stupidity and ignorance on his level makes me just want to scream. Mr. Oni is the saddest statement on how bad our country is doing if it can still create festering little sores like him.

I have nothing but contempt for people like him...

Little coward.
Little diseased, fearful, maladjusted, ignorant, cowardly, useless, stupid, cretinous, hate-monger
I love you too Milo!!!! I like how you can write a book about how much you hate me dang.

I would never be able to get to that part... I would be too busy writing about all the people you hate.

Every post I come across you is
I hate these people
I hate those people

It would take me so long to write about all the people you hate and all the people who don't meet with your narrow little brain-dead view of the world that I would never get to the part about how sadly pathetic you are as a human being.

I mean... you mention how much you want to shoot me in the head
you talk about all these people you wish were dead
you speak of all the hate you have of people of foriegn race
and now you write how you have no sympathy for children who die. After all... they were dumb enough to live in a country where the leaders started a foolish war.

You are a fucking jewel in the fabric of humanity, aren't you?

I mean... I don't have to write a thing, because I have stumbled across your empty headed, hate-filled posts ever since I came on to this board.

I don't feel the need to even discuss things with you, because your hideous views on... well... everything... are so infantile that it just gives me a headache bashing my head against that brickpile where your brains should be.

You aren't worth discussion.

Your character has been painted by posts you have made over the months and I see it as shallow and empty.

You are not deserving of anything but my contempt and my hostility.

I certainly don't seek you out, but whenever I encounter ignorance and repugnance on the level that you vomit out on these forums, you will get this same kind of response.

Oh... and just to feed you some information...

You can't call me a liberal in one post and a facist in the other. The two are about as far apart as can be... not that you know what either really means anyway

Also - I don't just cut off anyone I disagree with and just insult them for not agreeing with me. I do that to you, because, as I mentioned before, I find your attitudes so repellant that you are not worth discussion.

Finally... given your own hate-filled comments on homosexuality, I urge you not post that you love me... your gay-bashing pals might get the wrong idea.
