There was the incredible July steam sale which dep-sixed Pro and Expo is supposed to be totally screwed because of Starcraft 2 next week. All this talk of new entries makes me think this AWA won't be a "best of" AMV entries from 2010 Spring and Summer conventions.
what are you talking about? AMV contests are always better when they receive more "never before seen" entries. Also, a lot of people save their very best ideas to premiere exclusively at AWA. Every single AMV that I've ever submitted to AWA was specifically made for it, and they always turned out to be my best AMV of the year. (Although, I barely made the deadline 2 years ago, so my Claymore AMV was rushed and wasn't as good as it should have been.)

Oh and, not all AMV editors play starcraft  And, doesn't AWA's no trolling policy weed out the entries that won at conventions during the summer? You can't really call them the "best of" spring and summer if they didn't even win big enough to be disqualified from participating at other conventions.

AWA has a no trolling policy now? When did that happen?

The Wired Knight: Sunday, or ASAP Monday morning, is fine. Let me know if you have any issues. You had a duplicate ftp request, which shouldn't happen since your original account is still open...I canceled that and left the original in place. Followup by pm or email if needed.

As for the anti-trolling policy: we ain't got one. In general we try to share the wealth (obviously in expo) but that doesn't preclude the occasional doubling up of awards. And, with either contest, it's impossible to keep the voters from being completely unbiased in the case a video has made the rounds at other contests. But no, we have no hard and fast rules on that. The closest is that we discourage a re-make that has won at AWA previously. Re-makes of anything else can and have been accepted.

oh yeah. I forgot. I was actually getting AWA's rules completely mixed up with Otakon's. Also, I never even realized that AWA expo allowed multiple entries. Its been a really long time since I've read AWA's rules in their entirety.

What are the limits to signature? Can I just write my name in there digitally or does it have to be written manually? I kinda forgot about those and can't get to printer/scanner ATM (and for few next days) :uhoh:

We'd prefer a better and legible copy if at all possible, even if it means delaying a few days. The video download information will not be released to anyone who has not submitted a form, so the absolute hard deadline on getting the form to us is when those videos get distributed. The sooner the better though, obviously.

It kinda comes out looking like chickenscratch, but the absolute last ditch possibility on the forms is to sign with the pen markup tool in Foxit (does Acrobat Reader have something similar? They pissed me off years ago and I've completely abandoned it since) and print back to pdf.

What if my signature looks like chickenscratch anyway? Would you still prefer I print it?
