Then that guitar thingies popped up and went dun dun DUN dun then those box thingies went zooming by and twirling around and shit. Oh god, then the hexagons popped up and I was like 'I just got a stiffie'. Then there was the circle with those thingies going around and I blew my load.

I've updated the information for eating out Thursday and Saturday night over at the Otakon Dinner page, so if anyone is interested in the information on that, click on over to find out and share your thoughts.

I made a decision on where to eat on Thursday, something simple (I don't expect that big a turnout), at 8PM.

For Saturday, I just gave some info on what goes after Iron Editor and made a suggestion of M&S Grill which is open til midnight on Saturdays. If there are any opinions, then share.

And, for Thursday, I suggest you Private Message me with a confirmation, just so that I can get a clear idea of who's coming. Thank you.

Holy shit.

Holy fucking shit.

Just...wow. I'm gone for two weeks and I miss all the drama...and I mean like all of it...:P

I am slightly bummed (only slightly) at not making the finals. However, I would be lying if I didn't say I'm totally effing bummed by the "no overflow" thing. I mean, I can handle my vid not making the final cut (it just means there were that many truly excellent videos by people with greater talent than me), but....damn....the overflow would have been the very first time a vid of mine would premier in a public area like that.

Vic, you are truly handling this like a champ, and props on (probably maybe) saving us from A/V sync stuff.

I'm going to go cry in a corner now.

I'm not a regular member of this forum at all, but I have been keeping tabs on this thread. I've been to every Otakon since 2002 and its really sad to see Overflow go over by the wayside. I make a point to try and get to most of them. Finding a chair is sometimes difficult and sometimes you have to wait outside to get in. With such a popular event, it shocks me to see it on the chopping block.

I entered a video this year knowing it most likely wouldn't make the cut for the finals, but (at the time) I thought that I could at least watch it with a large group of others in public. I entered in 2007 and sitting in the overflow seeing my vid along with dozens of other eyes was well worth the time it took to make the video. The small laughs and claps I got made me feel grateful to Otakon for giving me a stage, even for just 3 minutes. I'm sure most of the people out there that have entered thought they'd get that same chance at feedback.

No matter what though, I'll still hold out some hope and taking a lot of what I have read here with a grain of salt. If there is no play time for the overflows, oh well. I'll just have to work harder and make something worthy of making the finals for the coming years.

I look forward to seeing everyone's work and going to another 3 days of Otakon.

The thing I've noticed about threads on the actual Otakon forums is that the only response you ever seem to get is to have like 4 admins say "HOW DARE YOU CRITICIZE US!" and "Sign up to work if you think you can do better." then locking the topic.
A lot of my friends have been talking about just not going to Otakon next year due to a number of factors, but I know that even a mass boycott probably wouldn't even be a blip on the radar, because there's always new attendees.

I'm quite surprised that they've gone to locking threads. Now I can certainly understand if they have one thread for it made and people are making a bunch of new ones. This is something I do for AMV Forum on the acen website, it makes it easier for me to track complaints and plan for the future. Plus I'll lock any thread that seems to be heading towards an unproductive flame war. But if they're truly disregarding attendee's issues and trying to bury it, it tells me they just don't care.
Gimme a minute, I'll make a cool one....

It's sad to hear that the Otakon boards are being so strictly moderated. I've not seen a single post / thread about the overflow issue or anything over on the official boards. I guess I see why.

I can say... nope. I'm not holding my breath either.

Well I don't mean anything specific about this year, but in years past that's been the case with post con complaints. And ya, things get locked over there on a pretty much regular basis. Remember the big deal a few years back with the Artist Alley new rules? Ya, you should have tried to bring something up about it on the forums, it would get shut down almost immediately.
They're gonna do what they're gonna do and your opinion doesn't matter in the least is the message they pretty much send.

The only threads I've noticed that were locked this year are one's that were already answered. Although I don't venture much off the Q&A and the Otakon 2010 forum, so maybe I haven't seen these others.

Wow, sounds a lot like Apple's forums. There is that direct contact form on the website though, so maybe we should all email the con chair after the convention?
