Re: Project NeoEditor [Quicklinks Pg1 - Round 1]

Post by CodeZTM » Fri Jun 25, 2010 5:59 pm

Removed the sources to my own personal records.

And yeah, I seriously doubt that even if we knew whose was whose, we wouldn't just blatantly score down. Especially because I will be publicly releasing each round's scores. I mean, I've never had any issues in the past with judging. Everybody scores dirt low anyway. :ying:

I'll trade you moving into the next round in the DZ IC tourney for the highest score of Round 1.

Edit: Talk to Mirko about the new rules regarding source listings to have him remove our posts from the thread where we listed all of ours. Removing them from the first post only stops the really lazy people. Also, even if you're not listing the sources specifically, it'd still be nice to see the editors still involved with the project in some form or another. Maybe write "eliminated" next to them in red text or something when they lose? *shrug*

I re-read the rules a few times and I didnt see anything talking about blind judging D= For the most part, a lot of people already know the source I'm using for this round because I talked about it in the irc and even to mirko >.>

EDIT:
So I figured that I'd recheck the round 1 listing...
Dont you guys think that's something that you should've included in the regular rule list so it would all be in one place >.>

Either way, I was the only one listed with this source, so I guess it was already obvious.

EDIT2:
Personally, I dont really care that my judging is blind or not, but I figured that once judges realize that I was talking about my source for this round later, that it may become a problem.

There's no "rule" against it, and you're not gonna be counted off for anything. I doubt any of the judges will actually count you off drastically because of who you are. When I picked my judges, I picked them because of various reasons. MirkoSP has a great deal of technical-know how and has generally good tastes in sync. Sanchez is a film student and probably one of the best critics I know. NS and Judgeholden were chosen because of their pretty vast knowledge of AMV's and experience in the field.

In the past, judges have been told by the editors themselves in the thread what source/audio they used.

I'm actually pretty surprised at all the reaction to the judging process. Of all the issues, this is the one that I've never had to deal with. Besides the fact that I'm pretty sure all of you can trust us to be completely impartial.

I'm going to echo Atari's sentiments about blind judging: I really don't care whether or not my judges are blind. I was just making suggestions on how to improve a formula you wanted to set up.

Honestly, I don't care either. I only mentioned about the sources because someone else brought up figuring out what video belonged to who based on the order the videos are submitted for judging - and that wouldn't matter if they knew the sources anyway.

Ok, then I'm not going to sweat the blind judging as much. I'm still not gonna outright put who edited what and attempt some form of "blindness", especially in how I send the videos into the judges.

Oh, and just to say this. Of the several entries I've received thus far, one of them has just BLOWN ME AWAY at how deep it was, and has made me reviving this project so much worthwhile that I can't wait to see more.

Sources have been cleaned. Some "extra" posts were removed since they quoted or referred to sources, but I might have accidentally left some behind. Probably not since I double checked but... oh well.
