Re: StarCraft II Beta is open to pre-orderers
Meh. The lack of LAN support is enough for me to not want the game anymore :/ The fun of SC for me was custom maps + playing with my friends anyway since I SUCK at playing other people. More looking forward to Diablo 3 :3

Re: StarCraft II Beta is open to pre-orderers
There is a map editor and there will be plenty of custom maps. What modern lan doesn't have access to the internet in some way? Also, Diablo 3 will probably have no lan also. They want you on battle net.ZephyrStar wrote:Meh. Re: StarCraft II Beta is open to pre-orderers
So I've had a beta invite for a few weeks, but after playing the Cracked Beta for two months I wasn't as interested. How dumb of me. I started playing the official beta this weekend and am really enjoying it. Actually let me rephrase that. Initially I hated it b/c of all the cheese I kept seeing (and losing to), but now that I've adapted it's alright. I do however see myself hitting a wall in ladder play and then playing mostly friends eventually. It's the same thing that happened in SC1. I'm sure I could get better, but it's just not worth it.

It is very hard right now because a big majority of players in the beta that play on ladders are serious SC1 veterans. I am pretty sure once the retail game hits shelves, you'll have a much easier time and face off against more evenly matched foes.dwchang wrote:So I've had a beta invite for a few weeks, but after playing the Cracked Beta for two months I wasn't as interested. BTW the beta is OVER in under 2 weeks.

Re: StarCraft II Beta is open to pre-orderers
It's not so bad anymore since I know how to counter "the cheese" (like a one reaper rush). I used to be a SC1 ladder vet (near the early end, not near end of life) so I know how it is, but I'm older now and just not taking it as seriously anymore. I'm winning more games now since I got my Build Order down and a little micro, but beyond that we'll see.Garylisk wrote:It is very hard right now because a big majority of players in the beta that play on ladders are serious SC1 veterans. Pretty sure Beta is over this Monday. It says June 25th, but everyone is saying it's still May 31st.

Re: StarCraft II Beta is open to pre-orderers
They are going to take a break. Apparently there have been some major issues this past week they need to work on and test more. So on May 31st the beta is going to end, but at some point in June, they are going to bring it back up with a new major patch, not sure how long it'll last at that point, but we know it'll probably be down completely before too long, more than likely the end of June.

Re: StarCraft II Beta is open to pre-orderers
Actually they extended the up-time after the disaster of Patch 13, so the beta now officially ends on June 7th. The main reason for the down time in between phase 1 and phase 2 of the beta is because they're going to be doing a ton of work on it to get it wrapped up and polished for retail sales. After they do this, the game should go gold by about late June and they'll probably open up the phase 2 of the beta to catch any minor bugs before the actual release, so they can at least patch it upon its install when people get their copies in late July.Garylisk wrote:They are going to take a break. I've really had fun with this beta and I'm really looking forward to my collectors edition coming in July
I'm also looking forward to Phase Two, since by then we'll presumably have access to the AI and maybe a few additional maps, potentially even a single player mission or two. We'll just have to wait and see

I like how this phase of the beta ends the day before my last final

Beta is over, now I don't know what to play. Hmm, I guess I could go back to Cave Story?
