So true MJ. As for you Khameleon808, dont expect instant success, it takes along time to develope proper editing techniques and skills. I have been doing this for almost 4 years now and I still not incredibly good. And I think that people are incredibly helpful around here but how you ask for help and deal with the person will determine how and if they will help you. And as for opinions there are only two ways your gonna get opinoins:

1. Your vid is just so good or so bad that the other person finds it worth their time to post.
2. Do an opinion exchange, you can only recieve if you give.

That's no excuse man. There is opinion exchanges going on all the time in that part of the forum with vids that are downloadable. If you can't be bothered with exchanging with someone, there's no real reason for anyone to feel obligated to owe you any opinions.

owes me?

Post by Khameleon808 » Mon Dec 09, 2002 3:14 pm

i never said anyone owed me an opinion , as for your "detective work" reading my profile, when i submitted opinions i was under a different name since i saw the videos at my friends house and not my own.

and yea 15 sounds about right, and they were all positive opinions.

as for instant success , i didnt even remember sayin i wanted that, in fact after watching how shitty adobe premiere is with divx files i will keep making my vids with windows movie maker, at least that is something that doesnt screw up my finished product, i am just limited in the imagination factor when it comes to that program

just sad

Post by Khameleon808 » Mon Dec 09, 2002 3:18 pm

its just sad when i took the time to express my opinion and not more than 10 min pass where osmeone is telling me that i dont have a right to be bitter about not getttin an opinion, the last post i read makes sense,

no one is gonna post on my vid unless it is too good , or superbad, i didnt put it in to that perspective, realizing that now , i dont expect anyone to post an opinion about my work now.

Then a lot of your posts will get moved by the mods. It's that simple.
Khameleon808 wrote: or maybe none of you know what i am talking about , or maybe think that i am out line for expressing my opinions in this manner.
Hell no. It's understandable that people who come into anything with high expectations will get frustrated when they fall short. But posting about it won't really help anything.

The last time I talked about reasons for making AMVs, I started an "intense discussion" with most of the 'name' creators around here participating. I've learned my lesson since then, but I will say this: if your only reason for making AMVs is to become popular, and not because you LIKE what you're doing, you might want to reconsider. This is not an easy hobby, and it tends to suck an enormous amount of your time and creative energy if you want to do it at the elite/competitive level. Why do this in your free time instead of something fun if you don't really like it?

Misty had some good suggestions. If you impress people at cons, you will get a higher status around here. I don't believe there's a single 'name' creator who does not compete, or at least show at conventions. Online, your video has to catch your audience's eye with music, video, or a name; at a convention showing, the audience is there in their chairs, waiting for your video, whatever it is, to be delivered to them.

Ofcourse, to do that, you might have to make an ANIME music video. As cool as live-action and VGMVs can be, that's not what the bulk of the people on this site and in this scene are really after.

well.....premire handles divx in a shitty way beacuse guess what.....it isn't meant to be edited in in the first place. Any codec capable of high compression like divx, xvid or any other mpeg-4 codec isn't meant to be edited in. It is a "final" or "distribution" codec as it uses a lot of cpu processing power to decode the streams to begin with....add to that what premire is doing with it and you are left with poor performance.

I don't know why you seem so upset about all of this in the first place. You obviously came in here with very high expectations. With the attitude you are portraying no wonder no one helps you or leaves oppinions for your videos.

You should be doing this to have fun....not to get oppinions or be recognized. If you make good stuff.....they will come and leave oppinons....sometimes....if your lucky and they are feeling nice and bribe them :)

Get over yourself.

Thanks, Kai Stromler. I was wondering if my posts were invisible or something because it doesn't seem like Khameleon808 is reading them.

If you want ops then DO OPINION EXCHANGES IN THE EXCHANGE FORUM!!

I had none for the longest time and never knew why. That's because only the BEST (or WORST) videos posted get lots of ops, and most of mine are average. So simply go into the opinion exchange forum and post a thread stating you wanna trade opinions. People will reply, you'll get ops, simple as that.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

First of all your vids you have up for download aren't even anime, and second they've only been up for a week. The FFX one's have about 100 in a week which isn't bad at all, if they are good they will keep that pace.

If you had enough time to review 15 vids (as you say) at your friends, I think you have enough time to do a few from home.

As SSJ said, the only true way to get ops is using the exchange forum. I can't say anyone will exchange with non anime ones though, video game vids might though.

Dont get disscouraged man. Half the battle of getting your word out is social. Post, chat on AIM (I know alot of us are always on, and are more than happy to chat :)

It took me a year of whoring myself and multiple forums and submitting videos to as many cons as I could for the 6 people who know who I am to get that way ;)

In any case, its all about the videos anyways, dont let slow initial response throw you.

A good piece of advice though (that has been given before in this thread, but Ill say it again), the best way to get opinions is to give them. There are many many threads started in the opinion exchange forum for opinion swapping, and when people offer to trade, their vids will more than liely be online and not dead links. Go check out Omnistrata's threads, or Hitori or MJ, I'm sure they would be more than happy to give you some constructive feedback.

And also, please dont think that if sombody has made a name for themselves and dosnt go out and review everyone's vids that they are "elitist". I've met about 90% of these guys (some more briefly than others), and let me tell you man, these are all great guys just doing their thing.

Anyways, good luck, take care, and dont get mad, just figure out why what is happening is happening ;)
