Re: AMVs: A Lifetime Addiction?
I have never even heard of Naruto's World, and I have never seen Whisper of the Beast. Who are these guys, and what do they have to do with us?

Re: AMVs: A Lifetime Addiction?
If you think of the ORG like a place to place your videos in a catalog, and even UPLOAD them, it would leave us with a pretty good option years ago when mostly Youtube was one of those other options, and not even that well-known as it is today. It's also an advantage that it is oriented to what you're doing, and have a community that's probably used to what you're doing (this case, amv's). You could even upload your 70mb file and avoid getting it recompressed for other people to watch.
But today, with cheaper hosts, a LOT MORE of video upload sites (not only streaming, but megaupload, etc.), chances that most editors will fall down here are slim. Some might see there's a more wider range of exposition on streaming sites than in a forum/community, leaving separated the overall usefulness of that kind of exposition.
As for the lifetime addiction, it's like all things/hobbies in life, they come and go; you start to lose interest and that's it. Unless you're totally like it, and don't change that much, it's not likely to last all your lifetime.

Don't try to think about it Kio your head would asplode.
what he's saying is, like the vca's, it may have started off as enthusiast based, but it is now run by casuals, youtubers and the russian mob. He's saying amvs may have started with nerds but it's now driven by 12 year olds with furry fetishes and emotional complexes.

Re: AMVs: A Lifetime Addiction?
There are so many websites, communities and groups these days that I really feel decentralized. I wish that there would be a site that combines a lot of them. I don't think that we do it now.
You can find me on YT under "Bauzi514". Subscribe to never miss my AMV releases.

Re: AMVs: A Lifetime Addiction?
This is the site. I think the fact that we are primarily English, North America, and have a reputation for being elitist has meant that we are seen as "That American AMV website." Nevermind that number of non-Americans we have, and the number of Canadians who would be offended by being called Americans.
Aside from adding language-specific subforums (and I doubt there is any support for that) I do not see how we can change that opinion. I for one do not see the org as English only or America only. I am quite happy responding in a combination of English and Japanese, French, or even limited Korean. I have done all three in announcements from the Japanese, French, and Korean editors.

subforums for other languages... hm i think the problem will be that this forum will be extremly long and so you will have problems to find all things. Also the people will most time stay in there subforum and will be not active in the other parts >_>

Re: AMVs: A Lifetime Addiction?
Precisely. Which is why I am not seriously suggesting it. I personally think it would be out of character. Much better if we just scrap the YOU MUST USE ENGLISH AT ALL TIMES de facto rule we have going on...

Re: AMVs: A Lifetime Addiction?
if you scrap it, it would be a total chaos. If the russian people write stuff and french one, other people dont know whats going on. then subforums are better than that.

Re: AMVs: A Lifetime Addiction?
I said scrapping AT ALL TIMES. Not scrapping a general rule for language.
