Minimoto, if the vid is done and you can get it in today's mail... we can likely make it work but I NEED it in my hands no later than the received Deadline (May 6th). Those of you who are that to the wire...can do the same. Enough of you have contacted me and complained about time being too tight, even though the dates have been posted since the start of February.

I will be doing the final pick up at the P.O.Box on May 6th. Read that how you wish.

I'm sure he's just been AFK all weekend (he hasn't responded to the e-mails I sent containing the links either). Last week when I sent him a PM, he got back to me rather quickly.

I had someone else instantly assume I was just ignoring them and I assure you this is not the case. I responded (in part) with the following. Please note. These are not excuses, simply explanations. In the email this is in response to I was critiqued for having the deadline a full two months before the con and that I should do it to two weeks before con. So I addressed that as well.

Actually....I DO check my PMs. However, I don't always check them every day and I do apologize for any inconveneince this may have caused you.

As for the two month buffer...there are multiple reasons for this.
1. Allows initial review and compilation before special judges screening to determine the finalists.
2. Allows for the above mentioned special judges screening
3. allows for compilation of final presentation DVD in the proper format for the venue. In this case Nokia Theater LA.
4. AMVs aren't my only duty at con. Though they are by far my favorite. Before this year I was only assistant head of tech and manager of the main events room as well as Lead on the production team that produced the GOH intro videos. Which required alot of time. NOW, as of this year, I am Director of Entertainment for all of AX which means I oversea the tech, programming and GR divisions as well as participate in the negotiation of the guests, coordination of any tech needs for bands performing as well as many of the duties I did before and many others not listed.

So the buffer is there for multiple reasons.

The above mentioned duties are also why I am not always immediate on my PMs and email returns. Though I do work to check them as often as possible. Though I am usually really good at my response times.

5. regarding the deadline....The deadline has been posted since the start of February. This has been this way for all three years I have ran this contest.

I realize things get stressed as the deadline looms. I can and do very much sympathize. Understand, I am not ignoring you. I do read every one of the emails/pms you all send me. It may not always be in the time you would like a response but I do work to get to them within 2 business days.

Well I got one entry in in time. Wish I could have gotten my usual two or three but between BAR study and wedding plans I'm shocked I even got one video done in time for AX.

Some concerns about the audio are coming up. While PCM is stated it's not listed anywhere if this needs to be 44100hz, 48000hz or if both are allowed. I know multiple people have submitted with 44100hz and due to other contests asking for 48khz they and myself included are confused as to what AX exactly demands. Would be nice if it was stated in the rules next year.

Y'know what Niotex, You are 100% correct. It should be listed. I am surprised I haven't done so already.

I do apologize for any confusion this has caused people.

48K is preferred as that is the standard sample rate for Video. However, 44.1 works just as well. On very rare occasions there have been slight shifts in timing of cuts when Premiere converts the audio though as of CS4 that issue hasn't seemed to rear it's ugly head yet so you should be fine.

Next year I will be sure to put in the preferred sample rate.

I mailed my entry through express mail (delivered through USPS not UPS) from overseas a week ago, and tracking status shows that it arrived at Ventura post office April 28th with a notice left at the box, but the tracking status says they might return after 5 days if the package is not claimed, so I'll submit a uploaded link to you as well.

I'll email/PM you about this with the tracking number and my uploaded link as well, thanks.

DP if you could check possible video's that are running with 44.1khz then you can put people who submitted them as such at ease. I realize you're more then busy right now but it'll at least give everyone including yourself time to fix and replace the submitted video if possible. We wouldn't want people disqualified over something like that after all.

As I stated previously, since shifting to CS4 the issue of timing slip has not occured so I am sure that will be fine. A video wouldn't be DQ for that anyway. the slip on the files where I noticed weren't for AMV contests. They were a glitch I encountered a few years back before taking over the AMV contest while working on the GoH intro vids.

This issue has not occured during the years I have been in charge of the contest.
