The AMV Wars - ACEN 2010

The AMV Wars is proud to be hosting our Hentai Iron Chef again this year at Anime Central. We will be holding our event on Friday night's schedule as the last event of the night beginning at Midnight Saturday morning local time.

Rather then running a standard at con Iron Chef setup, we will instead be employing the same competition style we had done 2 years ago. That is, anyone (as long as they can legally own/view hentai material) is allowed to enter the contest and edit at their own leisure. This includes ACEN Staff as well, and yes, even ACEN AMV Staff is allowed to enter if they wish. As long as you make the deadline you're golden.

So first off, the entry deadline will be Tuesday May 11th for those of you who wish to submit your entry via FTP. Those of you who will be attending the convention may hand your entries directly to me via Disk or flash drive or some kind of media during the convention as long as it is before Friday night! I cannot offer FTP access beyond Tuesday due to the fact I will be leaving for the convention on Wednesday and internet access at the Hyatt is overpriced. That gives you aprox 19 days from this posting to make your video. Should be plenty of time.

Next, you will be required to use the following source: Nanatsuiro Drops. This source will be provided for you as well as some hentai in case you need any. The source provided will be formatted at 720p and in xvid at the highest quality setting. This is to help save space/bandwidth and also allow for the best quality available (without censor patterns at least.) Your final video's frame size does not have to be 720p however.

Also, you must make your video following the theme: Sexy Magical Girls.

All other variables in your video is left up to you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Final video submission formats that will be required is as follows:
Codecs allowed: MPEG2, XVID, DIVX, MP4, h.264, x.264
Frame Sizes allowed: 640x480, 720x480, 848x480, 1280x720
You can flag your source as 4:3 or 16:9, our system will set the file to the proper aspect ratio. You can also letterbox or pillarbox your entry if you so desire.
Audio formats: Uncompressed, mp2 at 44.1khz or 48khz, mp3, AAC (bitrate should be at least 160kbps for each format)
Following any of these settings will assure that your video is played back at the best quality while also maintaining the assurance that it will play back without error.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If you wish to enter the competition you will need to contact me directly in order to receive the source as well as the FTP account to submit your final video. You may email me at: acen [at] ngsilver [dot] com or send me a PM. Please include the following information with your request:

Your Full Name
The Name you wish the video to be credited to
Your mailing address
If you will be attending the con or not
If you plan to attend the event
How long you expect to take to edit your entry

After I receive this information I will then send you the links to the provided sources as well as the information for your FTP account.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally, about judging at the con. All entries will be blinded for the voting at the convention in order to keep any personal bias from creeping into the results. Entries will be judged by both the audience and a panel of judges. Entrants in attendance will of course not be allowed to vote.
The audience's enjoyment will weight heavily upon the judges decisions, however the judges will be judging based on more then just simple enjoyment of the video. They will look at adherence to the rules (how well the theme was used, how well the required source was used) as well as the overall quality of the video.
The winning entrant will be awarded with a prize. The exact cost and description of the prize will not be revealed prior to the competition. However, I promise it will be well worth your effort.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If you have any questions feel free to ask. Now lets get to work! I wanna see some good stuff this year!

Well, it is in light of the fact someone has suggested this theme at every event for the past 6 years, so I figured I might as well see what people can come up with. Figure we can get some fun stuff with Sexy Magical Girls that hopefully wont be as bad as Magical Girls Gone Wild :A

Nothing is stopping you. Though you have till the convention to make something anyway. You are the champ, it would only be fair to defend your title :D But don't worry, you can keep your prize |:>

Welp I finished my entry, I really hope we get a lot of competition this year despite the short notice. Who's all planning on entering anyway besides NGSilver?

Alright ya'll. There's 2 weeks left here! I know there has to be more of you out there willing to take the challenge and de-thrown the champ! The Champ has stepped up to take all of ya'll on and from what I've heard has already finished his track! He's so confident that he only spent 3 hours on his track. You can't just sit there and let him gloat like that can you?

He dares you to take him down! He dares you to do better! In fact, he'll even give you the whole 2 weeks to do it! Cuz' he knows ya'll can't! And you know what, I dare ya'll too!

So? Any of you Man (or Woman) enough to take his challenge?

Actually only 4 hours to edit, I took about 12 hours with prepwork (converting episodes to huffyuv, finding an audio source that was good for a video) and then maybe about 6 hours of post work (trying to get it to export without any video defects, and converting to x.264) But yeah, 4 hours of editing, I dare anyone to create something that quick!
Gimme a minute, I'll make a cool one....
