Post by MimS » Thu Apr 15, 2010 4:36 pm

Hey everybody! I'm bringing you something you really want, I'm sure:

Japan Expo International AMV Contest 2010

Here we go!!! Once again, Japan Expo and AMV France organize the Japan Expo International AMV Contest for the biggest European Japanim Convention that will take place at the beginning of July 2010. So hang on to your timelines once again, it's going to be tough!

This year, no more French category!
Still, there are 2 different rankings:
One with all the AMVs received and the other with only the ones created especially for the contest!

The public prize, which was a big success during the last editions, will once again enable the Japan Expo visitors to choose their favourite AMV: Two whole hours' worth of AMV on a giant screen to be judged by popular vote.

All relevant information can be found here:
Japan Expo International AMV Contest 2010

Practical information:

Constraints: The Music Videos must have been created from music and anime (Japanese cartoons) sources. Use of pornographic or extremely violent scenes will disqualify your video. Such decision is final.

Deadline: The contest ends on June 6th, 2010 at 11:59pm. The videos must have been uploaded by this date.

Rules: We invite you to read CAREFULLY the contest rules

Note an important change in the rules this year:
To highlight Japan Expo-exclusive videos, videos participating in the contest have to be done after January 1st, 2010. Also, for the best ones, we intend, as much as possible, to prove this thanks to particular presents.

Upload: Your video MUST be uploaded during the registration process. Your video must be uploaded ONLY through the upload page accessible on the contest web page. CD or DVD sent by postal mail will NOT be considered.

Advices: In order to get as much consideration as possible, please find some advices:

- Avoid at all costs long intros and outros.
- Remove any sub-titles and logos (the DivX logo is a common mistake)
- Use acceptable length: between 1"30 and 6"00 maximum (without intro / outro)

For any question about the contest, please contact us on Japan Expo dedicated forum (No registration required).

FINALLY!!

The Rules wrote:The video size must NOT exceed 300 Mo, except under certain justified circumstances (High Definition).
You may want to inform whoever translates your webpages into English that the proper term is megabytes, abbreviated to MB (and the B must be capitalized, otherwise it's megabits!), rather than megaoctets.

Are there any limitations on resolution? Or audio sample rate?

I might do this. And the first headphoned girl on the rules site used to be my Org avatar at one point. This amuses me.

There isn't any limitation. However it's always good to give a SD version when you edit in HD ;)

The rules are to be corrected :)

Oh yeah, and the other thing -- can this be added to the contests page (or the events page?) at the Japan Expo main website?

Maybe it will, not depending on me.
It should be added but since we're a bit late this year, I'm not sure about it

Anyway, glad to see people were waiting for it hehe
