The new Doktor

I know at least some people here are fans of Doctor Who, so I thought I'd open a topic because somebody has to.

The fifth season with the new protagonist Matt Smith just started on Saturday. I must say I had serious doubts about his ability to step into David Tennant's shoes, but the first episode was a joy to watch. After the first five minutes or so he really got rolling. The franchise should be in good hands with him and the new producer/writer Moffat. And the new redhead companion is pretty damn hot. Ladies in uniforms and all that.

The writing was awesome on this one. I found myself going back and re-watching segments to catch all of the dialog - especially the segment with the laptop telecon.

Bah. Considering I'm a huuuuuge Doctor Who fan (old and new) I'm pretty disappointed in myself considering I've let myself get delayed in watching some of the new stuff. I didn't get around to watching the second episode of The End Of Time until like 2 weeks ago. Gotta grab this soon.

I wasn't aware this season had started yet, but definitely checking it out. I also am a huge fan of Tennant, I really like his quirkyness. I was very skeptical as well when I saw the promo materials with this new guy, but it sounds like he's worthy.

Being on the road at Saura and Tekko means I have not yet had a chance to watch the new Doctor in action... By the time I get back I'll have to catch up on both episodes... Can't wait...

It's a bit amusing to me how much the same sort of aliens are brought back. But if you've already got the costumes or designs, why waste them? It doesn't bother me all that much but I am SICK TO DEATH of cybermen and daleks. Stay extinct, dammit!
