It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine. From early reports, looks as if it will be able to be clocked upwards of 4.0ghz on air with a good motherboard and aftermarket cooler.

Two of those in a EVGA Classified SR-2, if that's possible.

I've been thinking of getting one myself later this year, but AMD is releasing their 6cores Thuban aswell so I'l have to think about it..

While that CPU is kickass, it is not possible to have them as a Dual-CPU setup (the same as it has mostly been for Intel's consumer-grade CPUs). That EVGA Classified SR-2 is only Dual-CPU ready for Xeon series CPUs. You'd have to step up to the Xeon counterpart (Xeon 5600 series). http://www.intel.com/pressroom/archive/ ... omp_sm.htm

In all honesty I will probably go with a 920. Mainly because I will need a workstation on the front end, not a render beast, so I will probably put that extra $1000 in a quatro card for smooth workflow. I won't need that many cores until I start the rendering phase on my project, which is at least a couple of years off, so at that point I'll just buy mid-range technology, and lots of it. Like, 10 machines as Max satellites. A server mobo might render the frame faster, but even with 10 satellites, you get 10 frames in twice the time for the same price? Something like that.

I laughed my ass off during the special features for "The Killer Bean" which is an indie 3d movie. When Jeff Lew needed more rendering power, he would buy a mobo, cpu, ram, hd, and psu, put them together, and put them on a big table in his workroom. No case or monitor or video card. He would just add another machine like that when he needed more power. In the end, he films the setup, and it's just a big bunch of motherboards sitting on a table, cranking away at the animation.

A bit OT, but meh
