Thankyou newbies, let's ressurect a dead thread!

Post by klinky » Sun Dec 08, 2002 12:47 am

What is with all these "newbies". Or new people(more pc). It seems everytime one joins, they must go look through the archive and ressurect a dead thread. I mean, usually it's not even a good reason. :\

Just annoying as hell

Hmm maybe we should lock threads after 2months of no replies. :O

Hmmm

Old threads are cycled out on a two month basis, appearently we need it to be shorter than that. And I know what you mean, on another anime board people bring back anime deathmatches long closed as well as threads as old as a year. It's really frustrating but really if they are interested in replying to a topic then fine, but there are some (like peple asking for advice long since ancient) shouldn't be needlessly brought back.

There was one guy asking for advice on something that would be happening about three days hence but about a month or two later some newbie thought it would be cool to give his advice too, I think that is rather useless.

I'm betting a week and a half after this thread is dead someone will resurrect it.

What? Go to General AMV, click on the little "20", and you'll see threads that are four months old, from when phpBB replaced Phorum.

I got that beat I can still find my very 1st post still which was july

"I just came here to see if anyone knew when the finals are gonna be posted and then I read this post and YAY mine made the finals I entered it under Drama, cuz its got comedy and drama, but since its not laughs throughout I decided drama, but I left a lil note saying enter it into comedy if you want. So there it is in comedy, but I don't think it will win cuz it's not loads of laughs and most that are there are inside jokes, plus I'm up against 2 of tim parks whose right now video I saw in the april Fanime2002, that made me wanna make one, but hey not bad for my 1st video I did in a week I also noticed a 1 frame error after watching it again >_< Hope no one notices ^-^;; Anyways, I'm just glad ppl will see it Good luck to everyone."

you know whenever someone makes a new topic that's the same as old topic, someone will flame them cuz there's already a topic on it, so then they revive a old one and still get flamed @_@ oh well....

Isn't it better to resurrect an old thread, than to make a new one, and just put in the same old points and have people talk about how it's been done before :?:

Look in general anime. ^_^

We have another "hottest babe" thread. Another End of Evangelion thread. Heck I even started another DBZ bashing thread.

No one flamed me for creating a new thread.

Also you can always reference a old thread, saying yes you know it's been discussed before, but you'd like to discuss it again.

My main problem is that these people have nothing new to put into the conversation. The reason they're replying to the old thread is because there wouldn't be enough substance for them to create a new thread off of.

There is no point in going "I HEARD YA!" "You're so right.", to a thread that is over a month old that no one is going to be reading. Or heck, the people who started the thread may no even be using the forum any more anyways. :\

The two month thing is something a mod said a while back and I guess it only applies to the general off topic forum where the oldest topic is back in october with its latest post.

 I have to admit, often this is so true. You see an older thread back at the top, where the newly replied threads are, and are like "Whoa! I wonder what's going down over hear". So you check it out, only to find the comments you've already pointed out. But with all the negative, once in awhile you get a positive...
