As far as I'm aware, I don't believe there is any filter that can fix that ghosting problem.

The "ghosting" issue with avatar looks like bad deinterlacing to me.

Hmm...well I can try using a different deinterlacing filter for next time. It's weird, because the deinterlacing filter I've been using has worked perfectly for all my other Avatar DVDs o_O Maybe it was a glitch or something *shrugs*
For the time being I think I'll put a light blur on the scene with Vegas. It makes the ghosting slightly less noticable and doesn't affect the detail much. I'm hoping it won't be too noticable; I've watched the video 20 times and I can only see the ghosting if I pause and go through frame by frame.

Oh god no. Blurring is the worst thing you can do. Blurring is not a replacement for noise removal -_-Chaobunny12 wrote:Hmm...well I can try using a different deinterlacing filter for next time. Well in that case I'll scrap the blurring. I was just using a quick blur with Sony Vegas which does way less than the Gaussian blur, but if you think it will hurt the quality I won't risk it.
And thanks for all the help!!

As for the noise, dfttest can work, add the basic cpu=4 at the end of the source, etc. This guide has some basic stuff on noise and other stuff for cleaning up footage, but most of it you wont need. Just click here, but I dont know how much help it'll be.

Just so you know you can apply filters at certain parts of your amv if you want to do some post processing.
For the parts that you want to blurr slightly or try to fix grain etc without bothering other parts of the video... You can use Animate/Applyrange http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/ApplyRange
One of the examples listed there is: ApplyRange(100,149,"Blur", 1.0)
The filter Blur is applied from frame 100 to 149 with 1.0 as the strength. No other frames are effected. You can do this with any filter as long as the resolution and framerate are not changed. Just make sure if your using something like a temporal smoother you give it a frame or two before and after the area your trying to fix to work with.

"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson
