Why do you block communication with someone?

I've done it once, because I didn't like what someone was saying.. he didn't stalk me or anything.. but then I just realized I was a pussy.. I started going around telling people that I blocked him, because he is an idiot. Just to justify my actions.

I thought He was like a god, if you know what I mean. Afraid of his words. I'd say to him.. "thank you for typing, my iq now went down.. " so yeah, I had to run away because he was killing my iq with his powerful posts of stupidity. I couldn't take any more mental punishment. Was that a good idea to block him? I think I saved my iq.. yeah, that's it.
