Interesting Iron Chef idea
I'm not planning to start an IC tournament myself any time soon, so I thought I'd throw this idea out there for Brad, Arashinome or anyone else thinking about running ICs in the future.
Livestream. It's gotten extremely easy to broadcast your desktop and whatever you're doing on your pute in real time nowadays, so wouldn't it be interesting to have the facing off editors broadcasting what they're doing? The audience could range from judges to other available and interested tournament participators, as well as other random people wondering where and how the hell those 2-hour face-off videos came to be.
It would be mildly interesting to watch some people edit, plus it would help with making sure the rules are kept (no taking 1 more minute because of having forgotten to fade out, no fixing the little mistakes quick after you're done and the list goes on). Not saying we should not be trusting, as this is just a fun thing and I know I've always stopped a bit before the 2 hour mark myself, but it should add more suspense knowing you don't have that comfort..

heh, I had some sort of idea that falls into the same category: Filming myself while making a whole amv. I'll probably do this in the next time.
I think your idea is quite nice for ICs

Sounds like valid fap material, would be a keeper for me.Bauzi wrote:heh, I had some sort of idea that falls into the same category: Filming myself while making a whole amv. I'll probably do this in the next time.

Re: Interesting Iron Chef idea
French did this already.
'Cept it was very "big brother" like. They were all editing in the same room, too. So they had a camera and a couple people to comment and record them editing etc.
'Twas cool, I'd like to see it done again. Now this thing you're proposing is kinda different since it only requires recording the monitor, but sure, It'd be nice.

I've had ideas like this for a long time, I know I enjoy watching people edit for a little bit, just because it's interesting to see people's process.

I support!
Sounds good, and I may actually have a way to be in an IC.
I may do a quick 20 min video though, just to explain to my family what video editing is (since explaining it to them with words hasn't worked for the past couple of years).

I was going to do the same thing, but I decided the 50-100+ GB of space required wouldn't really be worth it.Bauzi wrote:heh, I had some sort of idea that falls into the same category: Filming myself while making a whole amv. I'll probably do this in the next time.

If it's anything like what livestream does to your frame rates while gaming, I don't think I'd like to edit with it.

What does it to to your gaming? I see absolutely no difference to the performance of my system while livestreaming and the watchers don't get much lag other than a small delay either, I've seen movies, games and other desktop activities depicted live 100% normally in this way.Arashinome wrote:If it's anything like what livestream does to your frame rates while gaming, I don't think I'd like to edit with it.
