Natsume Yuujinchou - "The Magic Between Us"

I'm just going to quote the lead singer of Venus Hum, because she sums up the inspiration behind this video so much better than I can: "It is a miracle to me that we can exist together at all, let alone love and experience this mystery, this electricity between us, with one another", -Annette Strean of Venus Hum.

I am very happy with how this video came out, and I think I pulled off the idea quite well. The video shows people (in this case humans and youkai) fighting, being sad, being lonely, trying to kill each other, etc. But then at the end of it all, everyone can get along and find peace.


On a bit of a side note, though she knows absolutely nothing about this video, I have to thank Chiikaboom for making Bellicose, which introduced me to the amazingness that is Venus Hum.

Oh, and the file is large because the resolution is 1280 x 720. There was a considerable quality improvement in the 1280 x 720 version over the 848 x 480 version. If people have trouble playing the larger version, I'll upload the smaller one through an indirect link.

I have to admit, when the AMV began I was thinking I will not enjoy it that much. I was wrong. This is an example of how far good editing and scene selection can take you.
The only downhill I see is the length. Since you got the point across really quickly (people and youkai living together, their emotions etc.) the whole thing feels a little long.

But only a little.

Natsume Yujincho was only released on DVD from what I can see, so I doubt that an upscale would be a better looking solution over the original 480p... but whatever suits your taste, I guess. >_>


That said, it actually was a really nice vid. It felt like it dragged on a bit too much, and I started dozing off after the 3 mins mark, the pacing wasn't my cup of tea although the editing was fitting. 4/5

Thanks! This was my first AMV using a series, so finding 4 minutes of the right scenes out of 26 episodes was a bit exhausting.

Yeah, that surprised me too. I didn't think an upscale would improve the quality, especially since it didn't on my previous videos, but it did on this one, oddly enough. It might have been because this was the first video I edited on my 23" monitor, so I could see a difference in quality because my screen had to stretch the smaller version a lot more than the big one.

Yeah, the music and anime aren't something everyone would like. In fact, I'm amazed how many people haven't said they don't like it.
