Have you ever fixed up a video and then re-uploaded it?

Post by Gallup » Tue Jan 12, 2010 8:18 pm

Got a question for everyone in the AMV world. I just posted a completed project and have already recieved some suggestions about improving picture and sound quality. Would it be taboo if I fixed the areas that need fixing and then uploaded the video to a-m-v.org?

If the editing is the same, and you changed only the quality of the sound/images, then you can request a deletion of the previous file to be replaced with your remastered version. If the editing is different in any way, you'll need to make a separate entry in order to upload it here.

Going on what Kit has said, it isn't unheard of for people to remaster an old video with new footage or better cleaned up footage and audio and then upload the newer version. I had uploaded a remastered version of my video where I had gone through and redid the cleaning but left the actual editing the same. Others have gone back and done the same thing. It is also common for editors to simply remake a video, using new scenes and different editing. As Kit has pointed out, if you were to do that you simply upload the remake as a different video.

So it's not unheard of, not is it taboo. Just remember the differences between the two types and what they mean.

I'll also add that if the changes to the editing are really minimal, like just one or two changes scenes or some cuts a bit more tightly synced, then it's still fine to consider it a remaster. But like 99% of the vid should be the same as before.

I've done both, and in between. My KareKano video is about 95% the same, but it isn't identical. Minmay 2.0 is a remake, completely. It's how I wanted to do it, but couldn't.
