Cannot render to Huffyuv in Vegas..?

Post by Oracle2112 » Fri Dec 25, 2009 1:53 am

I converted my clips to lagarith lossless format like I usually do. After putting some random clips onto the timeline in Vegas Pro 9.0, I decided to render the footage as a test. However, in Video Format where I choose which codec to render the footage to, the Huffyuv codec is nowhere to be found in the drop box. I checked twice if Huffyuv was even installed in the first place and reinstalled Vegas numerous times. This strange error never occurred back when I used Vegas Pro 8.0. Any help would be appreciated.

Try Uninstalling and Reinstalling Hyffyuv Codec?
If that doesn't work, go back to Vegas 8 :amv:

Why don't you just render it out with the Lagarith codec? Not that big of a difference between HuffyYUV and Lagarith.

Do you use Windows 7? It has some sort of codec layer license something that sometimes prevents codecs to show up in programs because of... god I really don't know. I just wanted to inform you somehow. :|

I guess somebody on the inet already cracked this protection.

Sure, but in the end an unsolved problem still remains.

Why would you extract as a hyffyuv anyway? My compressed exports usually end up flawed for one reason or another - I much rather export as a lossless (without a codec), then use virtualdub to convert to a small & quick .xvid for viewing.

The codecs you see will also depend if you are running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Vegas 9. And yes, you can use 32-bit Vegas with a 64-bit OS. Lagarith installs both a 32-bit and 64-bit version, so you will see it in either. Huffyuv is mainly a 32-bit codec, but there are 64-bit builds out there. And you can try running Vegas as admin if you haven't already done so, but this shouldn't be the problem.

Render uncompressed, then convert. ^^
