I have seen several other members say worse things....on a regular basis. 3 months is kind of stupid

Re: Bacon 3-month ban for an insult?
IIRC It was because he'd just gotten off a series of temp bans and warnings for flaming.
<Mod-in-IRC>judging from what was decided, baqum gets a 3 months ban now
<Mod-in-IRC> <_>
<godix> really? For that?
<godix> Or is there other stuff?
<Mod-in-IRC> continuous flaming
<Mod-in-IRC> he was banned for a day for it recently
<Mod-in-IRC> got back and continued flaming and baiting
<Mod-in-IRC> we warned him
<Mod-in-IRC> kar even got to him in pm
<Mod-in-IRC> didn't work
<Mod-in-IRC> we decided next was 3 months ban

[01:05] Yannis: i don't remember something like that either..
[01:07] Baqumsu: and I don't really know why "Glad to see that you don't give a shit about how many people will want to suck your cock when making videos" is considered flaming
[01:08] Yannis: who said that?
[01:08] Baqumsu: I did
[01:09] Baqumsu: Ask them when this 'ban for flaming' was, because I only recall a ban for spamming some threads with random images.

Re: Bacon 3-month ban for an insult?
This is a small community were fairly everyone knows everyone, at least by nick. Getting banned for 3 months is getting banned for 1/4 of the year, and I believe that is a pretty big amount of time, even more if he was banned last time by even 1 only-day. If it was because they thought he wouldn't learn, it should be rather a permaban, but c'mon, we for sure don't know everything behind this and couldn't judge as well as the mod, I guess.
What I meant by the fact of being a small community, is that practically no person here will flame other on the forums for real, and if they do, won't keep unbanned enough to tell. Unless they get REALLY carried off, and/or the "victim" does get offended, it doesn't look like a big deal.

Re: Bacon 3-month ban for an insult?
(I didn't ban him as I wasn't even online the whole day).
Look, guys, nearly 80% of all posts deleted over the last few days have been by him or in response to him. He had just come off a short-term ban last week for the same thing. He was prodded and warned several times.
I'm sorry, but with the VCA running, the administration has better things to do than to babysit him. 3 months is a bit harsh, but I don't see even the slightest sign of remorse here, just complaints. Unless he realizes that it's wrong to spam, flame and bait on our forums, then it's unfair for us to have to constantly clean up after him. This is no way to behave and this is no way in which we want our forums to be used, let alone represented.

Re: Bacon 3-month ban for an insult?
What you said Could go if he actually insulted someone. But that's a usual occasion of a fucking inside joke, he sweared at someone he knew wouldn't mind, is that "flaming"? I though flaming is meant to be offensive, and not just to keep the forums "looking clean". Because if it is, I can point out LOTS of occasions where people insulted each other with nothing happening, because it was obvious it wasn't really flaming, more of an inside joke sort of thing. And these didn't get deleted nor did users get banned, because they were more "well known" and the mods probably recognised it wasn't something serious.
So with Aaron here being able to confirm himself that this is one of those occasions, don't you think that no matter what else Bacon might have done, This is a completely wrong reason for a 3 month ban?

Re: Bacon 3-month ban for an insult?
Well again, I don't mind inside jokes and all that (again, I wasn't the one that banned him or moved on his last few posts) - but the problem was that he was way too persistent and uncooperative, and like... jokes are jokes, but honestly, many posts over many days that are nothing but insults? That's not something that's a good example for other forum members, especially newbies. Kind of not good for the athmosphere. Kind of against forum guidelines and etiquette.
Personally, I don't think he should be banned for that long, but I think that reconsidering it should be up to the mod that banned him and the higher-up admin(s). If they're fine with it, I don't mind letting him go early.
Just don't let it go too far guys, seriously. I don't think anyone is interested in outright censorship of the forums, but we don't want to let it go far enough to start setting a bad example for members in general.
