Knee Deep In Disease (and slime, and microbes, and...)

Enjoy, if you can. Since this is the first SH video in HD, please try to at least enjoy the screensize. Those who were there in the past can reckon the drill: a brutal death metal video abusing pre-built strobes (IT'S A SLAM VIDEO AND IT ABUSES TRIGGERS, HILARIOUS) built on a nonconventional source. Unlike the last SH video, this one is indicative of future directions. Local and indirect downloads available; both are HD MPEG4 -- SD Xvid to come if there's actual interest in such.

If you somehow liked the music, follow up on the other bands listed in the video entry or do some browsing around Slam-Minded to get a feel for what this sector of the death metal scene is doing generally.

update: indirect download now up on this video.

I am so showing this at our awesomecore panel next year.

That was pretty sick. Pun intended. Good to see you back to form, well, a kind of form anyway!
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Much thanks for watching, though, despite the music; if it's not clear what a "significant step up in grade" from Cannibal Corpse can be expected to sound like, though, please let me know so that I can clarify that part of the video entry. A big part of why I do this is musical evangelism, but if someone walks into this video unawares and then doesn't give something like Arch Enemy a chance later because of it, I'm not doing my job right.

So this video... is supposed to be serious? I can't believe it! How can somebody take this video or music alone serious? I guess I really really dislike this kind of music. Heck even my friend's band sounds better to me than this.

The video is like a Charly Chaplin sort of speed up slap stick movie if you ask me. Nothing that I would combine with such a brutal song. I have to say that I only watch 1:30 minutes or something when I just didn't want to pester my own eyes with the strobes. It's almost like this video for me:

A big part of why I do this is musical evangelism, but if someone walks into this video unawares and then doesn't give something like Arch Enemy a chance later because of it, I'm not doing my job right.
I wouldn't listen to Arch Enemy if you would suggest it to me. However I actually DO listen to them from time to time so I think you do your job wrong. I was unaware of this intense music. I also would be if I would have read the description (lol, my fault). You could clarify right at the beginning that this music is really intense, brutal and most likely only for hardcore metal fans.

Ah this video just doesn't look serious enough for me. :|

The tags available are kind of limiting. This is primarily a 'fun' video, yes, but not in the "hey, those death metallers are off their rockers" way that Tim was going for in the video you mentioned; fun for people who enjoy this kind of music and/or are able to get outside the box that limits death metal's topics. Fun \m/, not fun . The other competing idea for the "official slam AMV" was something off Dysentery's most recent record to MD Geist, and that lost out because there was no fun hook to it; slam death metal in general sits very close to the line where the music inherently becomes self-parody, and if you don't pull it back in some way, it collapses under the weight of its own self-importance. This is why the Dysentery idea got pulled, and this is why this video is constituted the way it is. There's room for pure brutal music with pure brutal visuals, but those videos don't really have the "fun" tag anywhere near them.

Also, the announcement describes this video as "a brutal death metal video" and the video entry warns that "[c]asual viewers should also be prepared for some fairly extreme and uncut death metal". I'm not sure how many more ways I can tell people not to watch it.

You can't handle the br00talness of anime with music.

/gets because people need to grow a pair, seriously. I am saying this far too often lately.

edit: yer friend's band isn't too bad, the quality of the stuff on myspace sucks, but it's not terrible. and I've heard heavier.

As for the video: the music is liek straight up almost grindcore. But it's definately heavy, which I approve of. I've been wanting to make a vid with Waking the cadaver for a while, which is basically the same genre as this. whatever, either way I enjoyed it enough to keep it.
