I was wondering what the policy was on videos that were recorded from tv through a dvr (tivo, i think) and then transferred through a usb pvr. (Shippuden episodes that I have been recodring through disney xd for personal watching mainly) I also plan on copying some videos that way, like Locke the Superpower/superman and Windaria and many others...
thanks, Shinomori Kyo

Re: Video policy questions
I'm pretty sure it is allowed. Basically same thing as buying the actual DVDs only your buying cable to watch the shows instead of the DVDs. Same thing once you think about it.

I don't think pay per view counts as legal... you pay to watch the broadcast, not for further uses of the broadcasted shows, and the ones dealing with the anime in your country get money for you just for the streaming, not to buy a full-time copy. And in any case the quality won't be optimal, but that's another issue.
I'm not sure what to say about shows that got licensed and shown on tv, but never released on vhs/dvd though.

I'm talking about tivo/dvr not ppv.mirkosp wrote:I don't think pay per view counts as legal... you pay to watch the broadcast, not for further uses of the broadcasted shows, and the ones dealing with the anime in your country get money for you just for the streaming, not to buy a full-time copy. By the way, I own the videos. Bought them a long time ago from a video store when they were going out of business. and I own whatever dvds/videos that I can afford.

Re: Video policy questions
Just checked it. Thought tivo was some ppv channel over there, turns out it's a different thing. From what I'm understanding now, it's actually fine.
