Well taken on your other musical suggestion as well, been meaning to check them out :P

As far as the filesize, simple answer - lots of noise, blur, low contrast in the source does not respond well to compression. I rendered off a bunch of versions of this, from 45mb up, and this one looked best for the filesize to me. It's just a basic x264 with quantizer down at 17 (which is really an almost excessive setting). It's a little heavy, I know, but hey - it is substantially better-looking than a 45-50mb file would be.
