So what technically are the boundries of an AMV being a beta
I was thinking and since there are full songs lasting around 30 seconds, surely it would be fine to use that song and call it a full AMV. And if thats so then I really dont see the problem with having like a AMV around 1 minute long with only a section of a song as long as you keep an opening and an ending instead of just cutting in or/and out of the song. What do you think?

A beta in my opinion is anything that isn't finished, but that's all subjective to the creator.

I don't think 'beta' is the word your looking for >.<, what I believe you are referring to is a full length amv, a beta is an amv that is considered unfinished.
anyway if what your saying is, is a 30 second long amv (with a proper begining and end) a full length amv? Yes I think so. BUT if it is a clip of a song (EVEN if it's 5 MINUTES! Instramentals, however, may be held to different standards) that doesn't have a logical end or, more importantly, beginning, I would not call it full length.
That brings up the fact. SOME artsy bastards MAY try to make an AMV that HAS no end (the song that never ends xD). I may have to consider that full length... so it's really up to the editor whether they want to call it 'full length' or not!
Your confusion may come from the word 'complete', an incomplete amv is a beta. HOWEVER as the English language can just be stupid like that, an amv that is NOT a complete (as in ALL THERE) amv can ALSO refer to a non-full length amv, an mep piece would be an excellent example! An MEP peice that an editor deams 'finished' is then BOTH complete AND incomplete. However It is NOT a beta.
AFAIK

Re: So what technically are the boundries of an AMV being a beta
Concept of full AMV isn't tied to length or openness of beginning/ending, it's all about the creators mind.
One person could do a 1 second video with no actual song beginning or end, and call it finished. It actually has been done. And as long as the creator deems it as finished, it is a full AMV.
On the other hand, all the video could have all clips layed down, and song have a beginning and an ending, but the creator might still think that the video is unfinished, maybe because unpolished or for another reason, and that makes it a beta.
So unless the creator states otherwise by himself, a video is considered finished.

Then there is the issue of "complete but not correct."
Private Papers does not have a download. It has never had a download. Why? Because I guess it's complete, but it isn't finished. It probably never will be. Yet it is a FULL AMV, and if put up, it could be downloaded and would not be considered a beta by traditional means. I just am not going to put it up for download until I like it.

Most of you are saying that if the creator names the video complete, it is. I wanted to know because Im going to be uploading alot of my videos from now on and some of them are actually complete, they covered all I wanted them to, I dont want to change them in any way, but they are not complete songs (however I have made it so the song still has somewhat of a begginning and end instead of just cutting in and out) and only last around a minute long.
