in before person y?
Ever feel the need to rush an AMV in fears that someone, probably a good editor will think of the same idea, source/audio and get it out there before you and if you do get yours out, ppl will claim it was a copy of person y's or it'll lose appeal?

Yes, it always happens anyway.
usually while I'm still getting revved up by the concept.

Don't worry about it. Frankly, only newbies worry about that kind of stuff. If all your video had going for it was the anime/song combo than it didn't have much going for it. Good ideas aren't worth the paper they're written on. Its all about how you execute them, especially in AMVs.

Not really, even my rather conventional pairings (like that Donna Lewis/Mahoromatic video I released in February) seem like unique ones when looking through the catalog. And most other videos I consider doing anymore use decidedly non- or less-than-mainstream music (no, that's not a euphemism for 'pretentious folk-indie crap'), so I have little fear of ideas getting taken before I get around to them - and some of those have been sitting around for 3 or 4 years now and still haven't been done, not to mention many of those artists don't even have entries in the catalog.

Re: in before person y?
no cuz I only listen to old music anyway. Most of my ideas are like 'now why hasn't anybody else already thought of this??' That or I use Naruto. That's how you gaurantee stillborn obselecance THUS gauranteeing yourself that it WOULDN'T MATTER if somebody else makes it the same time as you! How many Naruto- Let the Bodies hit the floor (not sure what the title is) amvs are there anyway?? 1 more couldn't hurt
Jaddzia always complains how she used that '80s song before Suberunker yet everybody now thinks she copied him ^.^ it's just plain stupid to think that way. If a really popular AMV is than made with your song than you lose no matter what ><

I don't always complain about that (and I did make my shitty video before his awesome one) - I just complain about that when I get another qc telling me that I ripped him off, O.o which actually hasn't happened in long a while anyways. It seems that getting qcs are becoming just as rare as getting ops these days anyways..
In other words: it doesn't matter if you make it before or after the popular person/popular video, people will still tell you that you ripped them off, or at the very least compare your video to their's.
However both Doki and Driftroot seem to have done "my ideas" before me (or are in the works of doing so as far as I know). So the way I see it, they did me a favor.. Now I don't have to make them O.o
Spacing the time out between videos is always a good thing... gives people time to "forget".
