Thanks! I hope you'll enjoy my future videos. :D

Like I said earlier, you need to tone down on your blurs. It really killed it for me.

3.5/5

Thanks Leap. And yeah, I probably should've tweaked them a bit more to make them look a bit more "out-of-focus" and less distorted.

at first i was like "ok, dont enjoy this much", but then I kinda got into it and it was nice..repetition of the scenes also did good, really...i've also seen a few scenes used in this amv i havent seen in use before.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I honestly kept thinking the repetition of scenes would really bring down the quality of the final outcome.

But! I didnt like the film effect in it, wasnt a really good choice of effect, you should have kept the blur and the black white background without that. Also... The credits... please use something more original than, I don't know, Times new roman...? That really killed the feeling you built up through the amv.

Anyway, It was a great job!

Haha, I'll keep that in mind for my next video.

Next time I'll try to work on something a little more active. The song is a bit hard to actually try and make interesting because of the tone it keeps.

ZetZu wrote:Totally getting this.
Still haven't seen a video to this song that I've really liked yet~
:downloaded:

My thoughts:
Hmm. Can't say I really liked that all that much to be honest.
There was certain segments in the middle part, if I recall, which I liked.
But overall the cuts just seemed pretty much all over the place, and the lowered-opacity overlays
sort of didn't work in my opinion. But yeah, the video had it's pretty nifty moments, like first showing us
The boy's dreams while they were occurring, and then flashing-back on them later on in the video.

For a first 'real' video, it was rather nice. I can't tell for sure since while saying that, you might still have been
giving amv editing a shot for a much longer time, just never finished anything properly.

Anyway, this wasn't a video suitable for my taste. But good effort

Good luck on future videos!
Thank you for the thoughts, Zetzu. I'll try and take some of the thoughts as suggestions on what to stay away from. Anyway, I'm glad you managed to enjoy bits of the AMV, thanks again. :P

Good, but it didn't top Nightowl's classic IMO...

I looked at this video and song source and thought "Oh no" because at one point I thought about doing this same combination; after watching it, it's very safe to say that you ruined it. I'm sorry to break the chain of otherwise flattering comments, and I do understand this is your first video (at least that's the impression I get from other comments) so let me attempt to tell you precisely where you failed.

First of all, the scene selection: like Kev already said, some of it was really good because he hasn't seen it used much in Animatrix videos and I would agree that this might give your video a bit of an edge on others. The problem is the scenes you used weren't really good looking and got insanely repetitive. With such a varied source I'd definitely like to see more of it used and I'm sure you could have. The song is called Mad World, but your video focused PRIMARILY on a boy who was isolated. Now I get that this may be part of your point and that you were maybe trying to illustrate how this character saw the world around him. Indeed the blurred out areas around him are a pretty good sign that this is what you were trying to get across. But having an idea in the first place doesn't always mean it's interesting and it doesn't always mean it's the best possible interpretation of the song.

Lately I've been seeing a lot of videos with the Kid Story segment of Animatrix, which bores me a lot. Personally of all the stories in the Animatrix it's one of my least favorites, which no doubt plays into how I felt about this video. The thing is, with such a varied source, it's never a bad idea to use a wider variety of the scenes and sources available to you. It can make your video more interesting and for people like me (who may not enjoy one of the stories in the series visually) it panders to our desire to see other scenes or other stories. And with a song touching on a "Mad World", you could have really used EVERY SINGLE STORY IN THERE, instead of just 1 or 2. That kind of variation does make your video much more visually appealing. Imagine if "Don't Break" was only made using "Kid's Story".

1.5/5 for me, the editing was there but the emotion and concept was unforgivably weak. I can tell you know what you're doing from an editing perspective, maybe just flesh out your concept a little bit more in the future and evaluate whether or not it'd be interesting to watch. Think about what sources you're going to use and why, and how to keep it interesting for your viewers.

Thanks for the opinion, I'll take most of what was said there into consideration for my next video.

Got the 720p. I really dug this video. For a first release, it's pretty incredible, and I think it was more focused than the majority of videos I've seen lately.
