May I publish/upload this AMV?

Post by Schnauzer » Tue Oct 13, 2009 2:06 pm

Two weeks ago I made this AMV cause I need to expose about anime in my japanese language class. Now I want to publish/upload it here but I'm not sure if I can due to its content so I need your opinion, please. Thank you!

Here are the specifications and the ling to download it.

Title: 2009 Anime Demo
Author: Me, Schnauzer
Size: 135 MB prox.
Format: AVI ( DivX )
Quality: Very Good
Resolution: 354x240 *
Duration: 7:15 prox.
Animes shown: Many. 100+
Generes: The most common.
Direct download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3WLVYKQG

Can anybody tell me what's the best way or software to conver it to MP4?

* I advise you to play it in its original resolution (354x240) cause I save it in that way.

Whether or not it can be uploaded, if it's out in the wild, you probably want to enter it into the catalog. This page starts the process to enter the video.

When you're finished, you can put the Megaupload link as an indirect link on the video's catalog entry. If you want to upload it to local as well, you'll need to check that it doesn't break any of the following rules:
Local upload page wrote:This is the important part. Uploading things that are on this list may result in a ban.

* Non-anime videos,It's already been said but it's worth saying again that videos using a source we class as non-anime are not allowed. This includes...
* Live action videos. May seem obvious but no videos where the footage isn't animated.
* Pornographic videos. Videos explicitly depicting sexual acts are totally forbidden. Uploading porn will result in an immediate ban. Nudity is permitted provided it either has an artistic function in the video or is not depicted in an overtly erotic context.
* Excessive graphic violence. Examples include seeing innards, dismemberment and decapitation. If you think a video is borderline, contact an admin and get it cleared before uploading.
* Video files larger than 100M. This should be more than enough: the average video size on the org is ~30M. Special permission to upload larger files may be requested on the next page. Special conditions include things like very long videos and multi-editor videos.
* Compressed archives such as zip, rar, etc. Upload video files only, please.
* Project files from editing programs. Seriously folks, these are of no use to anyone but you.
* Warez/Crackz/Serialz. Upload these and an immediate ban awaits.
* Works In Progress. The hosting here is not for beta versions of videos. Final versions of videos only, please.
* Videos you did not make. Please do not upload other people's music videos.
* Videos using someone else's editing. All the editing work in the video must be your own - any footage edited by another music video creator must only be used with their consent and with full credit given to their work.
* Videos that make personal attacks on other members of the site. Like the rest of the site, personal attacks on other members are forbidden.
* Anything else that isn't listed as something you may upload. If you aren't certain that your video qualifies, ask about it in the forum first or email an admin.
If this was shown in class, it probably meets all these criteria. Once the video is in the catalog, you can ask for permission to upload the current version, but first you'll want to look at these A/V guides to see if you can re-encode it to make the file smaller. With that kind of resolution and only a 7-minute runtime, you should be able to make it small enough to fit under 100MB, probably just by compressing the audio. This part of the guide deals with MP4 encoding, which will probably help as well.

No, it's not; Avisynth.dll is the base file for Avisynth, which is included in the AMVApp, which in any case is a good collection of tools to have going forward.

Thank you so much! You are becoming my hero when talking about video edition, lol.

Were you the author of the guide? That guide rocks! I use to avoid reading (hate to read :S) but the way it was wrote is really interesting.

I made my first AMV (this one)with Ulead Media Pro v8. Have u heard about it? Do u think is a good soft for video editing or AMV making?

Heh, no just a normal technical user. Credits on the guide go to ErMaC, AD, and Zarx, who is the current maintainer.

I've never used Ulead, but the video editing software section is a good place to go to take the pulse of what people are using for their editing environments. You might want to search that forum for older topics on Ulead to see what experiences other people have had with the software.

Ulead isn't as common around here as vegas or premire, I but know there's several editors who use and vouch for it. (I'm pretty sure Megamom uses it, for instance) It should do perfectly well for an amving NLE.
