It doesn't kill imagination. It superts imagination, but also frustration.

For me it happens in every project: You think about something good and exciting and than the scene turns out to be not suited for it. Simpel stuff like the wrong form of motion or it's just too short. It also happens that I can't pull of things like I imagine them, but that must be a lack of effort or skill.

Usualy I improvise around the original idea that is set around a few core scenes. I really have to get rid of the habbit and start to really plan stuff. At least I would need to for the bigger much more complex projects :|

When I think about my studies in the programmer course they always told us that planning is 50% of the work and will spare you a lot of unnecessary effort.

Do we use 50% of the working time for planning?
No we surely don't. Not even for simpel editing stuff (because complex effects might take much more actual working time).

So in your opinion amv kills imagination?
how can someone imagine an amv, and be unable to find footage?

you want to make a movie, not an amv :S

imagination is immortal

lol indeed, that's why I'll start to shoot most of these projects and blend them with the anime... however for chara profile like the last one I've explained, it is not so difficult... it's just to follow the lyric and the mood of the song, while messing around on your character idea...
