AMV kills immagination?

Post by simofc90 » Tue Oct 06, 2009 12:43 pm

Have you ever think about a project so complex that you couldn't make as you imagine it? I have, and most of cases were because of the lack of footage, or my footages didn't fit well to the mood I wanted.
So in your opinion amv kills imagination?

I usually have trouble with this because my imagination isn't vivid enough. I mean, I'll have a general idea what I want to create, but, the image in my head isn't vivid enough for me to see it clearly, so I have a lot of trouble realizing that vision. Usually I end up making something, but its nowhere close to what I imagined. I'm never quite sure whats wrong with it, I just know its not quite right.

Awesome, 'cause I've been looking for this image of yotsuba riding a manatee with......

Actually when editing I have come into the issue quite often. I think it's not so much a "problem" as it shows there is a good deal of though and pre-production (if you would call it that) going into a work. I've had a really killer horror video in the works since 2006 and probably will wind up completing it this year only because my technical skill level has finally caught up to my aspirations/imagination; plus the footage available is so limiting it will no doubt require the use if custom work to come to completion. Think of it a the natural evolution of yourself and an editor, possible even beyond simply editing.

I have alot of ideas I know I can do, but they're never REALLY thought out well enough. The majority of the time has to do with sources. Alot of the time I "imagine" scenes only to realize they don't actually exist in the source footage. Then sometimes I know the exact scene I want and when I put it in the timeline, it looks nothing like I imagined. :(

Usually amvs end up being 60% or less of what your original vision was.

AMV's have never killed my imagination. If anything, it's opened it up to larger and new possibilities.

Now if only I could get the technical skill to pull it off. O_o
