Of all the videos listed here only four of which are actually downloadable through various hosting (I'm not going to count Kazzaa). So to go along with ideas a few people have put to me would anyone here be interested if the AMV Distribution Center put together a Christmas AMV CD?

The basic idea would be a compilation CD with a Christmas theme. Various creators, file formats, etc.

What I would need is first creators willing to put their Christmas AMVs on the thing and then people willing to request it. Naturally this would all be done for free through the AMV Distribution Center.

So if this sounds like something you'd be interested in speak up and if you have any ideas or comments please share those as well.

Sounds like a mighty fine idea. What exactly do you require in terms of video material for your CD compelations...just wondering as one of my vids is all christmas themed and it would be silly to pass up a chance to get further distrobution for it.

I typically leave file format is up to the creator. I do encourage universal and good quality formats so more people can enjoy your video and since you have less space issues with a CD than you do with online hosting. MPEG-1 and DivX tend to be the most popular formats but people do also do MPEG-2 and straight VCDs.

Anyone interested in submitting a Christmas AMV (Christmas theme footage, music, or both required) either shoot me an email at red_wolf@mac.com or on AIM as redwolfamv. Include your video's info and how I can get a copy of it. I will do online downloads, AIM transfers, and mailed in CDs. I'll go through my private AMV collection and contact those creators who's Christmas AMVs I already have a copy of.

I have to have the permission of the AMV's creator. If you have a copy of someone else's AMV you would like to see on the CD give me the creator's contact info so I can get permission. I will not include an AMV without the creator's permission.

The CDs will be made available through the AMV Distribution Center under the set policies there. The requester provides us with the blank CD and a self addressed and stamped envelope to return the CD in. No money ever changes hands. The requester provides us with the materials we need and we do the burning service for free.

I use a song from The Nightmare Before Christmas, does that count? It's all about snow...and christmas...distored in a terriable way...really... <Evil Grin>

It can be downloaded from my website (link in signature) currently.

I'll put up December, 1864 later tonight or thursday. So get it now.

Yep, a truly excellent idea. Whilst I would love to bang on my Ave Maria video some more to spruce of the video quality of the MPEG I feel it is going to be some time before I am actually going to consider myself to be happy with the compressed picture. As such, if you like, grab the version I have available for download right now.

Here is the link again.

Hmmm... Well if you really want snow I'm sure I can get them to import you some from up here....

Somehow I just can't picture an AMV to Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer....
