Help Finding Raws
There are a couple of animes I really want to make AMV's out of, but I don't want to use the subbed versions for obvious reasons. As far as I know, they haven't been licensed for dubbing, so that doesn't help.
Is there some site that hosts these raws? Or are the only methods of obtaining certain raws against the rules to discuss?

The rules talk about asking for illegal ways of obtaining raws. I'm asking if there are legal ways.
...but does that answer my question?

Since I think you're being honest about legal ways, well, there it is. Import the DVDs (or BRDs for that matter).

You can "buy" "these raws" on a special invention called a "dvd".
Rightstuf sells cheap dvds, some are only like 3 bucks.

He's looking for shows that aren't licensed yet. Rightstuf doesn't have those. His only bet is importing the R2 DVDs or BRDs, the sites I linked are the best ones for that purpose. The issue is that import isn't exactly cheap.darfurnub wrote:You can "buy" "these raws" on a special invention called a "dvd".

OTOH R2's quality is generally far better than any american DVD would get. BRDs are especially an awesome deal because they are progressive.

They also usually have about 2 episodes per disc, right?mirkosp wrote: OTOH R2's quality is generally far better than any american DVD would get.

Re: Help Finding Raws
Yes, generally that's it. However it depends. OVAs are 1 per DVD generally. Also, BRDs of older shows tend to contain a lot more episodes. For example, the Macross Zero BRDs respectively have 3 and 2 episodes, so the OVAs fit in 2 discs, whereas the original DVD release was made with 1 ova per dvd.Vivaldi wrote:They also usually have about 2 episodes per disc, right?mirkosp wrote: OTOH R2's quality is generally far better than any american DVD would get.(for DVDs, I have no idea how much stuff they fit on BRDs)

Re: Help Finding Raws
It entirely depends on the series, just like with DVDs. You can get 5/disc with shonen jump (and similar) titles for around $50 a piece, but you still get 2/disc with shorter series at $60 a piece.Vivaldi wrote:They also usually have about 2 episodes per disc, right?mirkosp wrote: OTOH R2's quality is generally far better than any american DVD would get.(for DVDs, I have no idea how much stuff they fit on BRDs)
It's a bit funny when you figure the quality on most HD broadcast RAWs is equal to or better than DVD rips.

That said - If you have a source over there you can often buy used and save some cash.
