Re: List your idols and why are they your idols?
I don't really consider him my idol ('cause that's kind of....weird) but I owe every single AMV I make to Scintilla just because I never would have started editing if he hadn't picked up the hobby. That...and without his techy know-how, I'd be utterly lost.
Kevin Caldwell (Engel), Absolute Destiny (Road to Iron Chef/IWIWAL/Do It Right), and dwchang (Glory of Love) were more my inspirations back when I started and I think that's why I tend to go more for the story than the shiny. Being raised on WMM2 will also do that. Even now, my tastes still haven't changed much though.
And I credit mckeed's "Gentrification" for showing me how to edit video to instrumental bridges between the lyrics. Otherwise my "F L C AL" video would have probably looked much different (the bridges are the best part!).

Awwww. I feel all warm and fuzzy nao. And not just because of the rum. *^_^* *hugs*Code wrote:Wurpess/Krisqo/Yeiweh deserve some mention in here too, because I idolized their many zany works and cute editing. [to this day, Rythm Bending of Yeiweh, Because of You by Krisqo, and wupress' many MEP tracks that are still on my playlist].
Anyway. I'd say probably DokiDoki (for comedy) and Ileia(for general awsm). Though I like Yeiweh's fanservice too. *^_^* And Jaddziadax does kewl too.

Sierra Lorna - because I like her simple editing and that she brought the attention back to the anime in each vid, something which is becoming less common these days.
Koopiskeva - putting a lot of conceptual thought into vids.
FoxJones - taught me the basics of editing and I was inspired by a lot of his earlier vids.

I don't know I would call these editors idols but they definitely helped with inspiration and technical knowledge...
Castor Troy - GGG was one of the first sites I actually found AMV's and his jpop vids were constantly in my rotation.
Machine (MindwarpET) - Provided me my first copy of Premiere and helped me with alot of technical stuff when I first started out.
AnonezDBZ - Not sure if this person ever joined the org but he also had some of the first AMV's I ever watched and inspired me to make my own.
Fluxmeister - Another person that helped me with alot of the technical side of AMV's and gave me alot of feedback to help improve my editing style.
Hypeodermic Studios (the Milos) - For giving me alot of feedback on my early vids and basically telling me to rethink how I make videos...mainly because I sucked.

Andrei Tarkovsky. For opening my ways to filmographic expression as art generally.
Otherwise, AMV editors have actually not been much of an influence on me. I respect a lot of good AMVers but I never really looked up to anyone since I just do my own thing and idolization only makes it awkward to actually meet people in real life later.
Otherwise, out of all editors, jasper-isis and godix have been the biggest influence on me because they've been involved with all my projects over the last 4 years or so and showed/explained what they were doing for their own in a fair amount of detail, and so have been extremely helpful to developing me as an AMVer. Idolization, imho, is completely unhelpful on the other hand.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
