Vegas Freeze

Post by GorDon » Sun Aug 30, 2009 6:52 am

Here is the problem, I edited video in vegas, source is codet in H264 so I used VFAPI and avisynth to get it in the vegas. Everything was fine but recently when I load the project and start edit vegas freeze. For decoding h264 I use coreAVC with CUDA acceleration.

When I changed decoder to libavcodec problem is solved. But still I would like to know what caused the problem with coreAVC and why it was so sudden.

What's the filetype, mp4, avi..? I guess it doesn't really matter, since Vegas will freeze or or screw up the video if you're using h264.
Look, if you're done with the video and it all works great now, fine. I really don't know the answer to your question (haven't used VFAPI but something similar, and Vegas froze for me too). But take my advice and just compress those files to lagarith or huffyvuv. It'll take a lot of space, but in the end it'll be a lot faster and easier to work with :)

filetype is mkv

I would like to but I'm in the middle of project and I do not want to lose it. :( :( Now I found that in libavcodec are some strange twitching in picture

No problem. You can just replace the files. First, import the video to avisynth and save it, then save the .avs as a .avi with Virtualdub (use lagarith as the codec). Next, go to the mkv file you're using and rename it. When you open up your project in Vegas, it should tell you the file can't be located... click "specify new location or replacement file" and go to the avi file you made. That should do it. :D

Except Vdub doesn't much appreciate MKV files.
