Re: This ain't a free hobby - UPDATE
Now granted, I did make money on some of my projects. When I worked in politics, I was making about $1400/mo. Of course that was not enough to pay my bills, my debts, and keep up the hardware habit. So I didn't invest in all of it entirely for AMVs... I have now, of course, since I no longer edit professionally. The Macs, ironically enough, were all purchased after moving to Japan, so after I stopped being pro. *shrug*

not true... i've made most of my upgrade choices based on editing efficiency. when i start to feel like i need more speed, i buy new hardware. I also wouldn't purchase so much disk space. If i was a bigger gamer, then it would be a different story, but i'm notFarlo wrote:whats the deal with figuring the pc into editing expenses, im sure most of would have the pc if we edited or didnt.

Same here. Our second computer was bought for editing (It was time to retire the 1 gig bad boy and I was tired of vcr to vcr editing)Pwolf wrote:not true... i've made most of my upgrade choices based on editing efficiency. when i start to feel like i need more speed, i buy new hardware. Of coarse knowing nothing about editing, except I needed to capture. I was assured this computer could capture. I'm sure the sales person didn't even know what capture meant >_< But I ended up with a really crappy free capture card....
Ya, everything in every computer I've owned, besides the 1 gig has been bought solely for editing.
